17 year old boy gift...max £20 HELP!

My local police station are running a present appeal for children in our area in care homes/foster care. We have signed up and have been allocated a 17 yo boy. My DS's are 9 and 3 so I have no clue what a teenager is I to these days! They recommend a maximum of £20 so can be one present or a few adding up to that amount.

Any parents of teenage boys around to advise me?

Is into that should say!

No real advice on a main present, but I would include a selection box.

ChildOfGallifrey · 08/12/2014 16:34

I am so stuck. Confused

Selection box is a good idea. Was thinking clothes like a t shirt or jumper but have no idea of size!

I think I'd go for a few smaller things in the hope that one or two of them would be appreciated. Some chocolate, a gift set, headphones perhaps, a pair of socks...

MrsPresley · 08/12/2014 16:38

How about a funky woolly hat and some gloves/socks. Some nice smelly stuff, my son likes Bench and FCUK, so glad I put that right Grin

ChildOfGallifrey · 08/12/2014 16:39

Thank you Santas. I reckon a well researched shopping trip tomorrow and I may be able to get all of those.

Yy, you could do Gummy earphones (or equivalent), a Lynx Dry (gift pack (or equiv), nice socks (get size 8-12), and a selection box for £20.

My DS is 16 and would very much like that.

MrsPresley · 08/12/2014 16:41

This is the kind of hat my son and his friends are wearing

I would get something like this I think

CariadsDarling · 08/12/2014 16:58

A friend who is the manager of a care home has just told my to try and get something he can keep in his room so others can't damage it, and if you google presents for a 17 year old boy there's loads of suggestions but I like this

I also like the idea of an additional selection box as well.

ChildOfGallifrey · 08/12/2014 17:09

cariads that is so cool! Thank you!

Agree with all the above, some great ideas. How about packing them in a hold all /sports bag, TKMaxx might have something suitable.

Something for his room, perhaps a small photo frame?

ChildOfGallifrey · 08/12/2014 18:07

I've managed to find a lamp that looks like the moon and I'm going to go pick up a toiletry set, touch screen gloves, earphones, marvel mug and selection box tomorrow. Does anyone know where I can get one of those chocolate pizzas? Seen online but can't deliver before Friday when gifts need to be handed in.

CariadsDarling · 08/12/2014 18:15

Chocolate pizza is available on that website I linked to.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 08/12/2014 18:22

Nothing really to add, but what a lovely idea. This has prompted me to find out if there are any similar schemes in my area. Thank you.

CariadsDarling · 08/12/2014 18:24

and there is this one. Perhaps you could phone them and explain the circumstances

Headphones - very good selection in TKMax.
Also designer boxers (boys like the band to have a designer name on them).

CatCushion · 08/12/2014 18:38

Food! Simple hamper packed with good food and treats. Can also add a cheap pair of gloves, thick socks, bars of good chocolate...peanut butter drink from Asda/Sainsbury's and a jar of biscuit spread from Lidl...

themartian · 08/12/2014 19:05

What a lovely idea! I have a 15 year old so here are a few ideas....Lynx, chocolate selection box, a moon light for his bedroom, around 8 pounds from the Glow Company have a look online, Christmas socks, sweets

ChildOfGallifrey · 08/12/2014 19:35
