Bath Christmas Market

Has anyone been to the Bath Christmas Market please? Thinking of going on Sunday with my 5 year old, 2 year old and under one- would it be ok or a dreadful, stressful mistake?

Packed, packed, packed.

It IS lovely and there are some great stalls but it is mega crowded. Quite frightening with little children, plus they will just see lots of people's legs and get bashed in the head with shopping bags all day long. That will be after it has taken you the best part of a day to get from your car to the centre of Bath.

We went on a weekday evening (not this year) which was less busy and quite magical with all the lights.

Hello I went recently on a saturday and at 11am it was heaving we couldnt negotiate buggy, it was rammed between huts, you couldnt even get close to see what they had...it wasnt good.

DH took buggy and toddler for a while so I could grab older one and negotiate crowds but it wasnt fun, sorry!

I did however enjoy walking round generally and the atmosphere...but I found the actual market too stressful.

Don't do it!

It will be HEAVING. It was really busy today (Friday) and last time I went on a Sunday it was so busy (think 10 people deep at each stall) that I went home in a bit of a huff.

And parking will be a nightmare - one of the main car parks (the multi-storey) is closed because of vandalism.

It has a lovely atmosphere, lots of different things to buy, pretty to look at but it would be hell with such little ones.

we actually parked immediately but we got there very early if you live near and can go late at night without buggy it would be lovely.

Thanks- pretty much as I suspected then unfortunately.. My other option is to send DH off with the older 2 while I have a quick look- is there anywhere in bath that would be suitable for an hour or two of entertainment please? We've just moved into the area so a bit clueless still

If it's not raining then victoria park playground along the upper Bristol road is sheer heaven for a couple of hours for kids that age.

Laycock is a pretty village, or longleat?

your DH could take the kids to the 'Egg' café at the back of the Theatre Royal (very near the markets) - it is a children's café, DH can sit and have a coffee while the children have a play - it's not soft play but they have a little wendy house with toys etc.
