Present for my Dad + partner - overseas - help!

My Dad lives with his partner in a European country. I need to get them a Christmas present which can either be easily delivered to them in time for Christmas, or which he could take back in a suitcase (I'd rather have something delivered in time for Christmas if possible).

He likes jazz and whisky and is interested in global issues. They also have an interest in gardening and home cooking, and are quite "eco". Something "English" might go down well, since I know that his partner likes reading British design/country/home magazines when they are in the UK.

Last year I bought them a clock with which also showed the lunar cycle and the temperature, which was recycled and could be hung inside or outside. Budget is around £30 but flexible.

Any bright ideas, people?

As an extension of the clock theme what about a weather station? I got one from mapljns last year and I love love love it!

The box was a reasonable size iirc and it was very easy to set up. There's an outdoor part that wirelessly transmits to the indoor console which I have up in the wall in the hall. It's so very cool to get accurate wind speeds, temps, pressure etc

I know this isn't exactly an answer to your question, but some companies (John Lewis for example) deliver abroad for a very reasonable charge. Not everything is included, but I find it useful when buying for my sister's family abroad...

Subscription to an English magazine?

Thanks for the suggestions - Schmeegle I was actually looking at weather stations when I stumbled across the clock, so yes that might be a possibility. And I will have a look round John Lewis website and see what I can find.

The only problem with a subscription is that my father and his partner would have very divergent taste in that respect, so it would have to be two subscriptions (and I don't know what they already have), otherwise it would be a good idea...

www.notonthehighstreet.com have some lovely things, and are good for international delivery. I've been taking a look at sundials and birdfeeders on there for my garden-loving DB. They have all sort of price-ranges, which is helpful too, and they personalise a lot of things.
