Child's desk for 6 and 8.5 year olds

Hi

Any recommendations? DS 8.5 has particularly requested a desk for his room on which he can do his drawing etc - he really enjoys drawing and is not half bad at it. Homework is a poor second but may register at some stage in the next few years :)

DD 6 has jumped on the bandwagon and asked for a desk too - she is much more likely to do homework at it!

Any recommendations - IKEA looks a bit horrible and things like great little trading company a bit expensive! They both have IKEA furnished type rooms. Dd will need a new bed soon (titchy, still in a toddler one) so we might think about a high sleeper and desk underneath. DS has a single bed, can't have a high sleeper as he sleepwalks, and has a smaller room to fit stuff into so desk can't be too big.

Many thanks!

Hanging around for ideas as we could do with one too.

Ikea had a new high sleeper in this year - it was on display in my local store in white. It looked pretty sturdy - we got DD a mid sleeper from john Lewis last year, which was pretty pricey with the desk etc. but the ikea one was much cheaper and looked just as good.

We've just bought 2 desks for our DDs rooms. Both from Ikea - the Micke workstation and Borgsjo desk - and not horrible in the slightest!

Thanks I will have another look. I am not snobby about IKEA - entirety of kids rooms and 90% of house furnished courtesy of IKEA and usually pfefer it to much pricier stuff! Perhaps I was just looking at the wrong ones :)

I've just had a look and it was the stuva loft bed I saw. We have some stuva units in DS's bedroom and they're pretty sturdy and smart looking.

We're getting this one

Mine both have ikea desks but there is space to do homework on and all their tat around the edge.

Mine have adult desks. The one in misslurkalot link looks a bit small for us but way more practical.

This is what mine have age 7 & 9

Thanks all. Good recommendations. I was looking at those IKEA ones but maybe I just need to get over myself with them - think maybe they remind me of the office too much :)

Stuva units are nice, that's what dd currently has in bedroom so desk to match wd be good.
