Maybe a craft kit? You could make up a mini hamper type thing with different types of paper/card, glue, some stick on sparkly bits and bobs, wavy scissors, paints, brushes etc etc. Try home bargains if you have one nearby or poss pound shop.

Agree with jigsaw, Melissa & Doug do really nice giant floor puzzles of 48 or 100 pieces (safari, under the sea, rainforest...)

Shopkins or littlest pet shop seem to be popular.

My 5 year old just had her birthday and got lots of crafty things, the trouble is most are too complicated to do herself.

But the Usborne activity book for girls has been great -stickers, colouring & puzzles, she loves it.

She also liked this sticker jewellery box, and of course anything Frozen related is a hit with most girls of that age!
