Present/books for 11-12 year old girl

I'm looking for inspiration! My niece has just started secondary school so is 11, nearly 12.

I'm stuck as to what to get her (parents couldn't offer any help) so thought about maybe a few books, but I'm not sure which books I read at her age or which would be best.

Anyone have any thoughts or other present inspiration?

louise rennison books

The book people also have a very nicely produced collection of children's classics - Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island etc - but my DD would absolutely refuse to read any of those.

she might like Flambards, or this historical romance set.

Does she read a lot, do you know?

and is she likely to prefer real-life girly books or fantasy adventure and escape?

The Hunger Games book set is very popular, but she might already have it.

Yes to Hunger Games but she may well have read it.

I have a few girls of this age to buy for and for something other than or to go with books ASOS have some nice Jack Wills purses, pencil cases, socks bags etc that are reasonably priced.

Dd loves Hunger Games, bought these last year, this year I have bought her maze runner and divergent ( think that's what it's called ).
