Playmobil for a 7 year old girl..

Nearlyadoctor · 11/11/2014 21:16

Need to pick your brains - my 7 year old dd wants some Playmobil for Christmas. We have never had Playmobil but do have Sylvanians and Lego friends. I think if I don't get it this year she will be too old and if it's what she wants, why not, but unsure which sets? She mentioned the Knights and unicorns.

Any recommendations? She is the youngest so will not be handed down so i would like something with a couple of years play value - hopefully.

DD1 is getting the Playmobil Hotel - it is currently £80 down from £100 at Asda and comes furnished and with some people.

Pikkewyn · 11/11/2014 21:19

Nope, it's the house not the hotel - she is nagging for the hotel but it is far too expensive! this is what she is getting.

Pikkewyn · 11/11/2014 21:20

I give up! The link is what I have ordered, confirmation mail says it's a house and order says it's a hotel Confused

Nearlyadoctor · 11/11/2014 21:24

Thanks Pikkewyn can I ask how old your dd 1 is?

The camper van is brilliant, as is tent

The circus stuff is also gorgeous

DD is 7 and has a hankering for the shopping mall

mabelbabel · 11/11/2014 22:23

Agree campervan is ace as a stand alone toy. My DD (8) quite likes the look of the summer holiday swimming pool and the pirate ship.

Chillycamper · 11/11/2014 22:33

Vet clinic was great. Lovely little animals - Guineapigs etc as I remember.

Sigh. she only plays minecraft now

TheRealMaryMillington · 11/11/2014 22:37

yyy to vet clinic. loads of play value

shadesofwinter · 11/11/2014 23:23

The Playmobil children's pool with whale fountain is currently £18.16 on Amazon, apparently its lowest ever price. Reviews are good

fwightened · 11/11/2014 23:28

I've got DD the swimming pool.

She already has the caravan and playground which she loves.

feetheart · 11/11/2014 23:32

Can vouch for camper van and vet clinic - both still make the odd appearance even though DD is nearly 12 and DS 9 :)
Not sure how they would work with Sylvanians as we were spared them thankfully but we have at times had our landing and both DC's bedrooms taken over by Playmobil/Lego/Polly Pocket/Dolls house world :o

Pikkewyn · 12/11/2014 07:51

DD1 is 7 in a few months.

vikjul · 12/11/2014 08:06

If she has mentioned knights and unicorns, I would stay close to those themes no matter how much other people's dcs love the camper van and the pool Smile.

If I were you, I would buy a pretty box and fill it with the contents of these two advent calendars, loads and loads of play value in all the pieces, fun to combine and easy to store:

Knights: www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-Christmas-5493-Calendar-Treasure/dp/B00B3QT8FS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1415779244&sr=8-2&keywords=playmobil+treasure

and

Unicorn: www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-4165-Calendar-Princess-Wedding/dp/B004P5O8I6/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1415779273&sr=8-12&keywords=playmobil+advent

But if you would rather buy boxed sets, then how about this for unicorns:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-Princess-5892-Castle-Carrying/dp/B003VW59SM/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1415778148&sr=8-15&keywords=playmobil+unicorn

or this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-4777-Unicorn-Along-Castle/dp/B001PMV5H4/ref=sr_1_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415778418&sr=1-2&keywords=playmobil+baby+unicorn

or this (but it's a pegasus, not a unicorn):

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-Princess-5143-Pegasus-Carriage/dp/B004P5O8OU/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1415778148&sr=8-16&keywords=playmobil+unicorn

or this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-Princess-4008-Super-Fountain/dp/B004FNNPBE/ref=pd_sim_k_h_b_cs_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=0884WZGFD1B5EXTXHCR6

There are also loads of smaller sets if you browse amazon:

www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_st_price-asc-rank?keywords=playmobil+unicorn&qid=1415778612&rh=n%3A468292%2Ck%3Aplaymobil+unicorn&sort=price-asc-rank

And for knights, perhaps something like this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-4006-Super-Dragons-Lair/dp/B004FNM4LQ/ref=sr_1_18?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415778541&sr=1-18&keywords=playmobil+knights

or this:

www.amazon.co.uk/PLAYMOBIL-6006-Kings-Castle-knights/dp/B00IF1W176/ref=sr_1_35?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415778741&sr=1-35&keywords=playmobil+knights

or this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-5972-Knights-Carry-Case/dp/B0076DCHMS/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415778802&sr=1-1&keywords=playmobil+knights+carry+case

or this:

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-4775-Knights-Along-Tower/dp/B001DO3G7G/ref=sr_1_2?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1415778832&sr=1-2&keywords=playmobil+knights+take

or this (good play value with two horses, treasure & a wagon):

www.amazon.co.uk/Playmobil-Knights-4874-Treasure-Transport/dp/B003AQBWJ4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1415779105&sr=8-4&keywords=playmobil+treasure

Sorry for getting carried away, I love Playmobil Grin!

TheBiggestDinosaur · 12/11/2014 09:07

I agree, I would get a Knights or Unicorns set if that's what she would like.

There is a 40th Anniversary Knights compact set out this year with some knights, a cart and a field (there is also a Princess one, with a little island and a boat, and a pony one with a field and a pony cart - and a Firefighter one too, if she would be into that)

I really like the compact sets. They are a nice size for a smaller present imo, you get quite a few figures and bits. We have the pony one, and my 7 and 3 year olds love it.

here

TheBiggestDinosaur · 12/11/2014 09:16

And not wanting to seem a Playmobil nerd - but you can get a carriage like the Pegasus one linked to above, but pulled by a unicorn, if that would appeal.

You can also get sets of plastic-foil bags (rather than cardboard boxes) with a unicorn and a fairy and some flowers in each, lots of different colours to collect. I think they cost about £8 or £9.

TheRealMaryMillington · 12/11/2014 11:46

tbh you just can't go wrong with playmobil. any of it.

Nearlyadoctor · 12/11/2014 14:35

Vikjul and TheBiggestDinosaur those are exactly the sort of things I was thinking about.

Having such a lot of Sylvanian families we already have a caravan, houses, ice cream van etc and really don't think I want to double up on themes. Most of the lego friends is house or pony based so Knights / unicorns is a bit different fantasy type theme.

I have ordered the advent calendar Princess wedding, just looking through the other sets Vikjul

Glad to here of 7 year olds playing with it as needed some reassurance she's not too old

Thanks Thanks

Glad to be of help!

Horses, treasure, canon and wagon are all in frequent use in my dd's play scenarios if that helps with chosing a knight's set...

FullOfChoc · 12/11/2014 14:53

My dd loves the school, she had it at 6 1/2 and still plays with it at 9.

She also likes the horses one.

We had the fairies, which have not kept her interest quite so long.

Nearlyadoctor · 12/11/2014 19:16

vikjul your Playmobil knowledge is amazing!!

The one I was looking at had the canon and wagon - glad to hear your DD plays with it as obviously more aimed at the boys. Smile

OP posts:
vikjul · 12/11/2014 19:34

More of a Playmobil disorder I think... Grin.

Anyway, glad to hear you found some good sets, hope your DD will like them!

Nearlyadoctor · 12/11/2014 20:29

vikjul any thoughts on Playmobil fairies unicorn take along set 5208. (Amazon)

Sorry don't know how to do a link..

vikjul · 12/11/2014 22:11

I think it looks really nice! If you think she would like fairies I would go for it!

I got my DD a similar set last Christmas. She uses the landscape/animals/accessories/hiding place a lot (but ignores the fairy):
