Family splitting up - WWYD re family gift

My cousin and her husband are splitting. Very, very amicable. He won't be moving until February/March time so they are still very much together in the family home although they now sleep in separate bedrooms.

I did buy the personalised coke bottles for all of them and I did plan on getting the new how to train your dragon DVD when it comes out to package it all together with a big bag of popcorn with some popcorn holders (like those at the cinema).

In your opinion is it still appropriate to give this as a family gift? Part of me thinks yes, they are still a family and will still be together at Christmas albeit with him moving out soon but then I think no but then I think I can't give to a section of the family and leave one person out!

I think give it to them. It sounds like they might watch the film and eat the popcorn all together anyway. He can always take his coke bottle with him when he leaves.

Yes, you should still give it, but you might be best to mention that you bought it before you heard the news.

I think that given the situation it's a good gift to give. It's a family gift that doesn't emphasise 'family' too much. If they are going to be in the same house until Feb/March, it does seem like things to do with the kids would be okay. Keeping it to a kids movie and treats is a good way to go.

Thanks all. I know it sounds an odd one but it really is coming down to when savings can be released from long term accounts. They are getting on well. The always did. But that's just it - getting on well and not actually a couple.

I think that gift would be fine. It is not particularly "family" orientated.
