Book suggestions for a book-obsessed three year old

I'm looking for some good story books to ask relatives to buy for my three year old son this Christmas. Books that your four year olds love would be great, as I want them to last him until next Christmas.
He loves Meg and Mog, Julia Donaldson (think we have all these!), chris haughton books - oh no george is a fave, mr men.
We have already bought him Journey by Aaron Becker, but we want some more involved books that have longer story lines as he is starting to follow plots a lot better.
Thank you for any suggestions

My dd isn't 4 yet, but the children I've known who are that age have enjoyed:

The Tiger who came to tea
We're going on a bear hunt
Handa's surprise
Giraffes can't dance
Any traditional stories - Three Bilyl Goats Gruff is always good!

Oh, and as a book loving Chad myself, I adored all The Large Family books! My mum loves reading 5 Minutes Peace to me.

*book-loving child, not Chad!

My 3 year old sits happily through an illustrated Winnie the Pooh. The stories are a bit longer than most of the story books we read (J Donaldson etc) I tell myself that it is developing her concentration!

fantail these Usborne Beginners Books are good we have the Solar System one, so the Body one may be worth a look.

My three year old is a big fan of Michael Rosen (who wrote we're going on a bear hunt), the Hairy Maclairy books, the Harry and his bucketful of Dinosaurs series and the Little Princess series. He also really likes the Usborne See Inside series, which someone on here recommended.

The tiger who came to tea
Not now Bernard
Blue Kangaroo (series)
Dr Seuss (any)
Anything by Janet and Allan Ahlberg - Cops and robbers, Peepo, Jolly Christmas Postman, Funnybones, Burglar Bill

When DS was 4, theCharlie Stinky Socks, Captain Flinn & the Pirate Dinosaurs and the Aliens loves underpants series were all big hits. As we're all the other pirate books mentioned above.

For factual books - the usborne see inside range were, and still are popular.

my just turned 4 yr olds favorited are:

The Toucan Brothers (Tor Freeman)
Cops and Robbers (The Ahlbergs)
The Snatchabook (Dockerty)

Some brilliant suggestions here, thanhs so much! I'm putting together a huge Amazon wish list and some are really cheap. Should totally reinvent his library, and improve the bedtime experience for me too - I get v bored reading the same ones!
