to ask how you fix your stockings to the mantelpiece?

I like the idea of hanging stockings on the mantelpiece. But how do you do it?

Cut piece of wood to fit the mantel and paint to match. Screw cuphook onto the front. Fix wood to the mantel with G-clamps. Hide the edges and clamps with a garland. Hang stockings from cuphooks.

End of the bed always here, I find the sneaking them out, filling them and getting them back again unseen is one of the most exciting parts of Christmas. It's getting harder as the DCs get older and stay awake later though.

We use plastic suction hooks. Stocking stay hanging up for about half an hour and spend rest of Xmas on heap in floor.
