Ideas please for parents in their 70s who have everything they want/need!

That in a nutshell really! Have do e vouchers for Iran Mor, theatre, Waverley, live shows etc etc over the last few years. Mum has a big birthday this week so my gift ideas have been used up! She loves gardening but think we have exhausted all gardening related presents over the years! Dad loves books but buys what he wants as and when. They have NT cards and historic Scotland and sil usually gives them a hamper type present! They get whisky, food goodies and restaurant vouchers a lot from friends and other relatives. I am stumped!!! Any ideas gratefully received! TIA.

A restaurant voucher for the new Martin Wishart restaurant in Malmaison, afternoon tea at the blytheswood, gft vouchers, tickets for steam train on west coast...

We've done the gft, afternoon tea, Rhs and charity donations! But will look into the Martin Wishart restaurant as some friends stayed at Malmaison for my friend's birthday and said the food was fab! And will def look into the west coast steam train - does that go up to Fort William way or am I just imagining that?! Thanks guys! Next dilemma will be ds who wants an iMac, iPad, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii everything but has an iPod and is getting my iPhone in Feb, plus budget won't stretch that far... Aaahhh! Me, I'm easy - peace n quiet would be great!!!

just one idea- is it possible to get all their old photos made into a dvd slide show- or album ?time consuming though. One of my favourite presents from my daughters was them going through all my photos ( without me knowing!) and making a chronological album of important/ funny/lovely memory times in our family's life - they had been put away for years!

Magazine subscription is always my fall back and actually not all that expensive as there are always special deals.

How about a photo book made with photos of them and family through the years? We made one through Apple and the quality was amazing. It looked really professional. We included some little descriptions and stories about events and a message to them on the front page. Went down a treat with grandparents :-)

Continuing with the photo theme, we make a calendar every year for all of the grandparents. We use photos of the kids, pets and local area. Quite easy to do with apple or vista print.

Do they enjoy walking? The most successful present I've done in recent years - which was ironically one of the cheapest - was 2 sets of these Gelert boot bags (live in the car boot so it doesn't get all muddy after you've been walking).
For my mum, I got her a lovely soft Seasalt cashmere blend winter scarf last year, that was also a big hit and gets worn a lot.

My DPs would hate a photo present as their house is just so and calendars have to be tasteful RHS or the like!

I'd go with the photos,my parents always LOVE that.A photobook or calender or an up-to-date photo of your family unit in a really lovely frame. There are also some wacky ideas on these photosites where you can have a favourite photo put onto a bag/tea-shirt/apron etc. Do they have a dog or other pet you could get a photo of and do someting unusual with?

My 90 year old MIL always loves a diary made from photo's. We create one on Photobox. It is time consuming but she now always requests one as it is practical and also has photo's of her family.

Oh wow! Loads of lovely suggestions! Dad is project manager of family annual Calendars so daren't step on his toes and they do magazine subscriptions with Tesco vouchers! Agent I think I might go with the steam train idea and book 2 nights in FW for them as well (DB will go halves!) - thank you! And if anyone else is thinking of GFT vouchers my parents loved them (dad's birthday gift last year) and went to see It's a Wonderful Life last Dec (23rd). Thank you! Now - what to get ds...?!!!!!

For instance, if they like drinking tea, get some luxury tea and biscuit brands, a teapot, tea cosy, tea strainer etc to go in it.
Make a hamper up of things they like to eat/do.

Marking place for ideas as I'm really struggling too. Some great ideas here already.

We make our parents and grandparents a calendar with pictures of the DC for each month, in order. So the calendar will have a picture of DD from jan 2014 as the picture for Jan 2015.
After a couple of years of this they now have a picture of DD every month since she was born, and adding DC2 as of this year too!
