I'm looking for a Wii but not sure which one to buy. Any advice?

Are you ok buying second hand? We just got a second hand wii (the old version) and it's a lot of fun and only cost £40 including games and controllers, so there's some really good deals available. The games are also cheaper than for the latest wii. If you are buying new then the old one is probably overpriced.

If you go for the wii u, you can then play both types of wii games - old and new. I used to have to old wii and now have the wii u, games like mariokart 8 etc are brilliant on the wii u. :)

I second the Wii U- We bought one a few years ago and as far as family games go it can't be beat. Plus you can play original wii games on it. Win Win!

I confess I know nothing about the wii but was thinking of buying as a family gift this year - DH says he played one years ago and it was just not great, didn't pick up your movement very well etc. this was a long time ago (I..e when they first came out) though so I'm guessing they've improved?

We have dc ages 2&5 do you think they might enjoy it or save for another time?

Sorry to derail op! The second hand ones seem very cheap!

They pick up movements well enough, it's not like you can do really fine movements, but you soon get used to it.
The 2 year old may struggle for a while, but the 5 year old would enjoy it!

We bought an old version Wii last year reduced and although DS has loves it and has lots of play out of it we knew it would be limited as you need Wii U for new games. Theres one being released DS wants. That said, last year we couldn't stretch to the £240 it was going to cost.
