Mine just have this set Theonlyoneiknow, basic but they seem to like it, half price here too. I also buy cheap batteries off amazon, but they still go through them fast, I think my 4 year old switches them on before putting them away! I like the sound of the bath ones mentioned upthread, haven't heard of them before.

coffeetofunction · 02/11/2014 18:15

Oohood... Try the entertainer for "cheap" Lego starts at £1 & it compatible Wink

AWimbaWay · 02/11/2014 18:21

I bought two School backpacks for Dcs in GAP today, they were already reduced from £19.99 to £8.99, then there was an extra 40% off taking them down to £5.39. I think the extra 40% off ends tomorrow though.

AWimbaWay · 02/11/2014 18:22

Also managed to get slippers for Dd for £1.79!

AWimbaWay · 02/11/2014 18:25

It was these slippers. Still seem full price online.

insanityscratching · 02/11/2014 18:27

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 02/11/2014 18:39

Blacktreaclecat where did you get the balance bike from?

coffeetofunction · 02/11/2014 18:44

Have I spent too much?? 3pigs you have got me thinking...£200 for DS &DD1...£150 for DD2 (including g a new buggy)... It doesn't look much, was thinking about some big boxes to bulk up but has I 'spoilt' the kids???....

Also would a 'making Christmas Day easier' thread be a good idea???

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 02/11/2014 18:50

Coffee as I have spent more than you, no you have not spent too much

OutThereLil · 02/11/2014 19:02

That thread would be a great idea coffee

SpottyTeacakes · 02/11/2014 19:03

I suppose it's only too much if you can't afford it!

Madrigals same here for DS who is 3, his main Buzz Lightyear pressie was £39.99 but there are a few extra presents and treats for stocking, plus everything family and friends will give. DH and I are preparing mentally for this being the last inexpensive-ish Christmas ...

nodramamama · 02/11/2014 19:18

Highly recommend this Gift App mentioned by mumsnet on page 1 I think to keep track of what's still left to buy, who's getting what, overall budget etc. Really easy to use.

nodramamama · 02/11/2014 19:25

IHeartKingThistle · 02/11/2014 19:26

306 got mine from the works last year.

Methenyouplus4 · 02/11/2014 19:26

I getbbig rolls of brown paper in my local post office for coppers.

Badvoc123 · 02/11/2014 19:28

My 2 dc have GPS, aunts and uncles and godparents who buy gifts for them so they get a lot!
I am loathe to ask others to stop buying for them - seems mean. And it's fun to buy for children! :)
So...rather than them being totally overwhelmed on Xmas day we stagger it.
So we have gifts from pils and sil on Xmas eve after the crib service.
Then gifts from us on Xmas day.
Then any others on Boxing Day.
It works for us :)
And we eat Xmas dinner in the evening (5/6 ish) as it seems to work better and the kids are ready for a big meal by then.
We buy batteries from ikea as they are cheap and we always have a stash.
Stockings are great to keep the kids busy on our bed whilst Dh and I wake up with a coffee :)

pigleychez · 02/11/2014 19:29

306 I got rolls of brown paper from Matalan with some red ribbon.

coffee Ive only spent £75 on each girl but they don't really have any 'Big' presents. They dont need/havent asked for anything.

There are a couple of bits that cost £25 but its mostly all small things. They are only 4 and 6 so they will be happy with lots of little bits.

Im happy to go with that and save the expensive presents till they are older and everything has to be labels and techy! :)

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 02/11/2014 19:30

im not sure how much ive spent think about £100 on dd1 (almost 6) and about £60 on dd2 (2) however I have got mostly second hand bits so lots there Grin

in the past I have gone way overboard and things remain untouched for months, dd1 hasn't actually asked for anything except random toys out she needs and forgets about 5 mins later apart from a toothless figure which she will be getting for her b-day Grin

on another note has anyone seen a cheap (under £30) innotab? we have the 1st one but both girls fight over it so would like to upgrade for dd1 bday. and a few games? Grin thank u!!!

Badvoc123 · 02/11/2014 19:31
