DDs 2nd Christmas...ideas for gifts she will love to play with straight away?

So the family are asking for Christmas ideas and I'm a bit stumped haven't really thought about it yet.

DD will be just over 18 months. What were your DC's favourite things at around that age?

DD's 2nd birthday and Xmas (3 days apart), I can remember commenting in January sometime that if she never played with her Happyland House or tea -set again, we'd still had value for money from them, the amount she played with them that first month. Luckily though, she carried on playing with them lots for some time, and still occasionally does now at 4 1/2!

My little one's favourite at that age was a push-along toy and a set of six big stuffed fabric blocks. She loved stacking and un stacking them Smile

My 16 month old loves her push along pram and handbag (both fisher price) she also loves duplo at the minute (the ice cream set is cute)

Toy shopping trolley - There is a nice Waitrose one for £18.
Wow toys - Similar to Happyland. Bought some from Home Bargains.
Simple puzzles - There is a nice Noah's Ark one in ELC which is suitable from age 2. It is part of their 2 for £10 deal.
Nursery Rhyme CDs
Pretty backpack to carry her stuff about in. Lots of kids seem to like doing that.

My dd is 20 months she loves her play food and tea set, it's also got a few proper kitchen bits in it like a tiny sieve, plastic chopping board and a mixing bowl, the melissa and doug cutting sandwiches set is her favourite, she's got the chopping fruit but I've had to put it away because the pieces are too small. She also loves her wax crayons and paper

Ds is getting:

Henry Hoover

New buggy as his is broken.

We have loads of happyland stuff which he loves.

Maybe more a "main" present but we bought dd a rocking horse from mamas & papas. Her little face when she saw it lit up. Ds plays on it these days

DD2 is 20 months and her favourite thing by far is a pushchair and doll. She also loves happyland and her toy kitchen & tea set.

Watching this with interest!

We've gotten the little people princess castle, a doll, kitchen to share with dc1 and will probably get a pretend phone of some sort.

I think I'll suggest the happy land stuff to family.

Can I ask which pram/pushchairs people have as they seem to all say 3+ so I wasn't sure.

I second the shopping trolley. Also a postbox game called 'Pop it in the Post'. Oh yes, and the Fisher Price mock smartphone (still played with ad infinitum in the car, 3 yrs later).

Clarice, her main present from us us the mamas and papas rocking horse, really hoping it will be a hit with her! Am having to restrain myself from giving it to her early!

Shopping trolley is a good one, I saw an Elc one but lookes a bit flimsy, suggested the waitrose one to DP but he doesnt like it because it says waitrose on it and he thinks it will look snobby (even though we do most if our shopping there), what a tit!

Howabout, I noticed that all the prams/pushchairs had age 3+ on them but they the same sort if thing DD has been playing with at nursery since about 14months! I think the issue is that they have a tendancy to try and climb into them which is obviously not what they are designed for so they need to be supervised with them. The age guides tend to be the age that the toy is safe to be played with by themselves.

Now I just have to convince DH that we need to include that despite whole budget already being accounted for!

Happy land. Dd still loves her happy land at 3 yrs even though she has a real dolls house .
Tea set.
Play food.
Play doh.
Dressing up clothes.
Wooden train set.
Toy cooker, pots, pans and baking set.
