When we booked said babysitter DH wanted us to go to his Rugby Club dinner and dance but we've been to a summer one and it was very lacklustre!

What could we do instead?

Haven't been out on NYE for many years!

I'd rather stay home and go out a few nights later where prices are back to normal and don't cost a premium! I hate NYE but if just the 2 of you dinner somewhere really nice?

Maybe I'm strange but I couldn't imagine not seeing in the new year with my DS.

As much as I would like to go out and celebrate with DH it just wouldn't feel right.

When he is old enough to do his own thing then we can go out however that said i'll probably force him to still spend it with us :)

Dd is 3 and will most likely go to stay with my parents over night. I love the idea that she might celebrate with us but at the age she is I'd never be able to keep her up until midnight! The first year we had her, she was 5 months and I went to bed at 9 pm whilst DH played play station. She was still up 3 times a night do I wasn't in any fit state to party. DH is insisting we do something with his family this year, but as SIL will be 7 months pregnant I get the feeling that all we will do is play board games. Confused Not my idea of a fun new year tbh but I will go along with it for DH. I quite want to go to the cinema.
