I blame Reastie Wink

I just popped into the spare room to put a few shopping bags with the others and the pile looked.... Large.

So I made a list. Jesus my husband will kill me.

I'm not the only one having to hide stuff right??

Me too. I've allocated some presents to aunties and grandparents. And I'm halfway through birthday presents for next year too!

LokiBear · 25/10/2014 19:24

I've kept a list so feeling like I've been pretty restrained so far. The twitch will get me though!

toffeelolly · 25/10/2014 19:36

Hubby does not know half of what I buy. Built in wardrobe in my room is filled and also garage which he never goes into. Going to have to stop buying lol.Smile

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 25/10/2014 19:41

We have a present store so buy up bargains then when birthday n Xmas come around we have to buy v little well that's the plan

fuzzpig · 25/10/2014 19:41

I have been remarkably restrained so far.

This may change when I go to the board game shop on Monday though :o

curiousgeorgie · 25/10/2014 19:43

I can't believe how much I've got for my oldest DD. There's no way I can give it all to her and avoid a row on Christmas morning...

Not too bad so far, I keep a list for relatives and have a vague budget but for DS we don't have a budget for DS so always go way overboard. Love this season though for celebrations.

BedPig2013 · 25/10/2014 20:45

I've made a list of what to get dd and other relatives and I was doing so well in sticking to it but I do keep seeing little extras for dd or thinking of other things she might like, so I imagine she'll be getting a lot more than I first anticipated Wink

JingleSpud · 25/10/2014 20:48

I have bought loads....

....and saved loads Grin

Pollywallywinkles · 26/10/2014 07:55

I've only bought a few things at the moment. However as we stick to budgets it won't be over the top.

dingit · 26/10/2014 07:57

Fuzzpig, where is a board game shop? Sounds my idea of heaven. Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes · 26/10/2014 07:59

No, I have gone OTT in previous years and we have ended up awash with stuff that doesn't get used, this year it stops.

fuzzpig · 26/10/2014 08:02

The one we are going to is in Horsham (West Sussex) it's tiny and about half is dedicated to the little gaming models (YAWN :o) but they have a nice amount of stock and the guy that runs it really knows his stuff. SO excited about going - we normally end up in Horsham on a Sunday and then realise when we get there that it's closed! So we haven't been for ages.

There was an amazing game shop in Greenwich too, in the marketplace. I was absolutely gutted when we went for the first time in years (Cutty sark etc) and discovered it was closed :( there's not enough shops like that around, and board game selections in regular toy stores tend to be very... mainstream IYSWIM? TV/character based stuff rather than proper nerdy games. My absolute dream would be to run a geeky shop.

Sorry that turned into a rant Blush

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 26/10/2014 08:05

I have bought loads but im going back through it all and possibly returning some or ebaying some of what I bought second hand - there is 2 very large boxes, 2 smaller boxes and a some more bits for dd1 bday and Christmas for dd 1 and dd2. ive just had a clear out and want to try minimising sick of unplayed with toys and 'bargain' clutter everywhere so don't want to just replace it all on Christmas day!!! Grin

fuzzpig · 26/10/2014 09:50

So Georgie are you going to tell your DH in advance how much you've got or wait til he freaks out as you put it all under the tree? :o

I am borderline, we could have xmas tomorow really but have one or two more things to get, but walking through all the toy sales,,,tempting...

But you know, they are only young once, that wowness does fade a little, dont get into debt but dont fret...

Oldraver · 26/10/2014 12:32

This morning DS has done his Santa present list. OH has just been chuckling all the way through me and DS disscusing it and asked when he was out of earshot

"has he asked for anything we have already bought" Grin

DS had asked for some (expensive and not very readily available) Lego and we had bought a few other sets he had mentioned he liked as they were half price.. so there is a nice stash. He is slightly aware the sets are Mega bucks and hadn't put them on his list. until he was gently reminded

So, we have a list of 'likes' that appear to be the first mention...I suppose it didnt help him having the Smyths book with him

But yes we have bought a lot and even if Christmas were tomorrow when he opened his presents he would forget about the other items..he is aware he wont get everything he asked for. It can be tricky sorting out the genuine 'I would really love that' from the idle ...ooh that looks good while perusing catalogues IYSWIM ?

RJnomore · 26/10/2014 12:37

Em. Yes. Possibly. I have been buying since the January sales Blush and can't quite remember.

I can't get into my wardrobe though.

And I still have a list I need to get...

Curious, loving your summary at the bottom Grin I think Disney will have a lot of people's money this year.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 26/10/2014 13:26

curious u have made me feel better with your list!!! mine is same sort of thing although Lego has most of my money and dd2 is neglected compared to dd1 list!!

maybe I could write mine on here and you guys can try not too hard to convince me to keep it all and just give up trying to have a toy free zone downstairs!!

curiousgeorgie · 26/10/2014 13:29

I've been sorting the play room since 8am trying to make space and somehow convince DH she has no toys Wink

I have 3 huge boxes of stuff (some of which is brand new) to give away. However... Local three local charity shops not accepting toys or children's books! Great.

Badvoc123 · 26/10/2014 13:34

I am ok but have had to hide the bargain thread :)

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 26/10/2014 13:47

curious have u any local toddler groups or family centre that might be able to make use of them? I help run a toddler group and as its non profit volunteer run we are appreciative of any donations!!

failing that free groups on Facebook - I uploaded a box of stuff random craps and a dodgy airer I couldn't be arsed to take to charity was gone from the house in an hour!!
