3ds / ds games for a 7 year old girl?

I've bought my 7 year old DD a Nintendo 2Ds for Christmas which comes with Pokemon Y game. I also want to get her another couple of games but unsure which. Have looked at Animal Leaf Crossing, Pokemon Art Academy, Tomodachi life and Olaf's Quest. Also thought about some of the Mario ones, she will definitely only be getting 2 so want to choose the best. She is a real bookworm and very into craft and her ballet so not an experienced gamer. Recommendations please! Smile

Also I realise you can play ds and 3ds games on the 2ds, is there any downside to using the ds ones? Ie substandard graphics?

Mario and Mariokart games are the best that Nintendo make IMO. I'd definitely get her mario. Not up to speed anymore on which version there is for which console, sadly, but the Super Mario games are consistently awesome.

Animal crossing! My now 15 year old has clocked up weeks on animal crossing (she still plays it!). You have to read lots of text on animal crossing, visit the museums, give gifts, write notes, extend your home - it's great! Mario kart is very good too, so is harvest moon.

My 7 year old dd spends a lot of time on super Mario bros. Also animal crossing is great both me and dd love it. Sonic classic collection is a big favourite as well.

That's great - anyone any idea what the lego games are like? They are on offer at Tesco. Lego movie and Lego friends? I think animal leaf crossing is a definate.

The lego games tend to get pretty god reviews. DD loved the harry potter ones. Harvest Moon is another which has been a hit here.

The other big hit for DD was nintendogs. She has spent more hours training her dogs than I care to admit!

DD has the original Art academy and TBH hasn't bothered with it that much. One of the main frustrations has been the lack of ability to take the pictures she's drawn of the DS.

My dd got her 2 DS and animal crossing game when she was 8 yrs .. She still adores it. She plays it at the weekend and holidays . We bought her the handbook to go with it .

Nearlyadoctor · 24/10/2014 16:08

Miss I didn't realise there was a handbook - where did you get that from?

My DD age 7 is not interested in her DSconsole much anymore but she will play the cooking mama and hobby mama games and even her DS age 9 and me will have a sneaky go on those.
