Buying for the stockings is one of my favourite parts of the prep..

Cash. Crisp, new, polymer bills in large denominations.

defineme · 23/10/2014 22:45

Burts Bees hand or lip balm, white Dairy Crunch bar, white Burgundy wine, Tyrells vegetable crisps, Hazelnut coffee, diary.

Jessica78 · 24/10/2014 12:07

Clr2014 - just as in I like a nice wooden spoon for cooking ( not as in a symbolic 'I'm a stirrer' type way!!!) ??

RandomFriend · 24/10/2014 12:18

I like doing the stockings as well. I'm joining in because some of the ideas here are great. Chocolate orange in the toe sounds lovely.

For my DCs I usually include some slightly fancy versions of sensible things sucha as shower gel, lip balm (tied into a cracker shape), chocolate and socks. DD also get nail polish. My nicest stockings have been topped with a teddy peeping out.

In my stocking, I would love to have some perfume.

Pastperfect · 24/10/2014 12:28

Salted caramel
Stationery
Alex Monroe Posy bangle
New iPhone cover
Nice knickers
Diptyque tuberose candle
Smash box primer

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 24/10/2014 12:33

Lip balms especially those by Lanolips.
Packet of real Saffron.
Soaps in beautiful Italian packaging.
Spices and herbs.
A book, hopefully an anthology of food writing.
A Twinkie and Hostess Cupcake- my junk food heaven.
Hot Tamales- cinnamon hot beans.
A silicon stirring spoon.
Lagniole paring knife with a brightly coloured fruitwood handle.
A soft wallet- calfskin.
Stella McCartney bra set.
Steam cream.
Anything with Barbapappa or a Moomin on!

Our stockings contain gifts that cost a bit more and we have less 'big' gifts to open because the stocking is THE event in our house.

So far mine has a digital thermometer to use in meat or liquid when cooking, a funnel for filling jam jars, a chocolate father christmas, a few packs from the spicery (which I will plan to cook with over Christmas). I need to get some socks, which I have every year, and I'd like a nice top now I'm nearing the end of 5 years of maternity/ feeding tops. And I need to get everyone's chocolate coins.

DH used to get me a bit of jewellery (usually earrings) and put them in my stocking. But last year he took DD(4) shopping with him and thankfully forgot to put them in or she'd have had some rather awkward questions....

I'm still planning on emptying a tub of lego bricks into DH's stocking.

blardyfeck · 24/10/2014 12:53

Cash
Wine
Jewellery
Dior makeup
Benedict cumberbatch

A very merry christmas it would make.

Artandco · 24/10/2014 12:59

Woollen tights (falke)
Lindt hazelnut chocolate
Coconut candle
Cashmere beanie
New small umbrella

We actually spend a fair amount on stocking here! Usually just one main larger present, then the stocking full of luxuries! Sometimes main present goes in stocking also if small enough

Dh has Chanel allure and accessories for his go pro camera already to go in this year. Then prob just some choc/ snacks to fill out

chanie44 · 24/10/2014 14:18

Small umbrella
Necklace (I know the one I want)
Cashmere socks
Make up bag
Chocolate orange
New underwear
Body shop vitamin e range

NetballHoop · 24/10/2014 14:34

Wooly socks
Fabergé egg
Tickets to the Maldives
Tangerine

That would be nice.

IsItMeOr · 24/10/2014 17:37

Random Chocolate oranges are £1 in Asda at the mo ;)

AggressiveBunting · 24/10/2014 17:39

Henry Cavill Wink

hairymonkey · 24/10/2014 17:44

In a dream stocking I'd like:
One of those face brush clarisonic things
Mac eyeshadow
Clarins/origins toiletries
Nice undies
Booker list
A new leather purse
Swatch.

We are and probably are always destined to be a bit skint so reality:

Nice dark chocs
Book
Satsuma
Something dp finds amusing, but normally isn't.

Drania · 24/10/2014 17:47

DH and I have a £10 budget for stockings, so I'd like:

Minty chocolate (preferably the Aldi kind that comes in little bars)
A pair of slippers
However many books that he can pick up from the charity shop's 50p shelf with the remainder of the money.

In an ideal world it would be the entire contents of our local Hotel Chocolat, Amazon's stock of books and Hugh Jackman, if he was available.

2kidsintow · 24/10/2014 17:49

Bodyshop vanilla shower gel, body spray, perfume - except they don't make the full range anymore. I miss it as it made some of the children in my class tell me I smelled like Haribos. :)

A ticket to see a show.

A cd or two.

A DVD.

Mini bottle of bucks fizz.

Fluffy socks.

A novelty memory stick.

An owl necklace.

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 24/10/2014 18:37

I'm going to post before reading the other replies :)

A selection from...

Terry's chocolate orange (you have to have an orange Grin)

5p pieces (they're just so cute and you have to have silver coins)

Small packet of chocolate macadamia nuts (you have to have nuts and raw nuts are goping)

Small Clarins hand lotion (gift pack size)

Small nail polish (I never wear the stuff, but quite fancy getting one in a stocking - yes, odd I know. I would use it a few times, just because).

Little notebooks (I love stationery!)

Small kiddy sized packet of chocolate buttons.

Tiny box of Lindor chocolates

Little puzzle

Lego Grin

Mini screwdriver

Mini bottle of bath bubbles

Mini bottle of alcoholic bubbles

Bouncy ball

Novelty magnetic book mark

Cashmere socks (white/grey/pale pink)

Small bottle of 'Beautiful' by Estee Lauder perfume & the shower gel!

... hmm, I wonder if Santa is listening??

ChillingGrinBloodLover · 24/10/2014 18:38

oops Blush Got a bit carried away, but they're mostly little and cheap and I did say a selection from... Grin

Rowboat · 24/10/2014 19:07

Some lovely underwear because after 3.5 years of breastfeeding I deserve some.
a million pounds. Smile

Misty9 · 24/10/2014 22:09

I've just told dh not to worry about stocking this year he can't cope with the pressure but:

Necklace with birth stones of my two children
Chocolate orange
Posh dark chocs
Nice makeup
Couple of good books
Hot chocolate
Puzzle/game
hand moisturiser
Small bottle wine
new wallet

Maybe I'll give him a list to choose from instead Grin

ItsGotBellsOn · 25/10/2014 17:30

Beauty bits I love but struggle to afford myself - my fave Chanel face masque, my favourite YSL lipliner, Clinique chubby sticks in various colours, some Neal's Yard bath oil.

Nice chocolate truffles.

Useful bits I could always do with more of- Nivea shower creme, toothbrush, hand cream, socks, hairclips/bands

A nice scented candle - love the posh ones like Diptyque, but also keen on the more reasonably priced Lily Flame ones.

Books or book voucher.

Wildpoppies · 25/10/2014 19:05

oh this is a great thread - love it.

I am quite traditional in that I would love a bag of chocolate coins and a satsuma in mine. Also a magazine I've not tried before, a novel that the buyer thinks I might enjoy, ditto a cd or dvd. Nice bubble bath. Socks. And because I have never really grown up since I was about 8, some lovely stationery.

CleaninQueen · 25/10/2014 19:44

Victoria secret bra & pants
