I really don't need anything but my lovely mother keeps saying 'it's not about need, what would you like to have?', it's also my birthday a few days after Christmas.

What are you all asking for? I'll probably think of 1000 things in January but my mind is a blank now!

I used to really struggle to come up with ideas for presents for myself. Either I didn't NEED it or could get it myself. A friend turned me on to the idea of putting luxuries I would never buy myself on my list. So it's usually things like special toiletries and very nice bed socks and pj stuff, occasionally random items. When I first tried to identify what those things would be I looked on John Lewis site under the tab called something like "Christmas presents" or "gifts" for inspiration.

MelonOfTroy · 23/10/2014 17:43

Great inspiration, thanks.

Yy it's things I wouldn't buy myself because it seems a bit expensive and a DC probably needs shoes or the car needs a tyre or something.

I'm going to look at the websites of my favourite shops for gifty bits, as what I'd really love (a weekend away with DH, with theatre tickets) is just a bit too much childcare-wise.

Lancôme foundation and mascara (I wouldn't usually buy it for myself, it seems a bit decadent when DD needs clothes/shoes)
No7 skincare (I buy it regularly but can never have enough!)
Kobo voucher
Gigantic tub of Haribo jelly rings
A blender/food processor (boring but mine is broken and I use it all the time)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 23/10/2014 18:46

My birthday is in November and I'm having an iPad, we don't buy presents for xmas. I'm SO looking forward to itGrin

Books, always books, and nice bath stuff. New books can be expensive so I always ask everyone to get me one for Christmas, or at least vouchers for a book shop. Nice bath stuff because I never buy it for myself

Still after the horse JerseySpud Wink

After reading TackRoom, I do think sometimes about getting a part share - I work P/T so I have 2 days in the week that I could go and muck out/gromm/excercise and at my advanced age I hope I'd be seen as responsible (though I haven't been on a horse for about 18 years) .
And I have back trouble which wouldn't improve with unaccustomed excercise or hitting the floor. And I'm the only driver.......so it stays as a thought.

Presnts-wise. Haven't compiled a list yet
I got a new dishwasher though (unreasonably excited Smile )

fuzzpig · 23/10/2014 18:53

Lego :o I've asked DH and I know he's got some for me. I'm ridiculously excited - never had my own before!

Other than that, I'd love to get loads of board games
