A Roberts digital radio.
Some bits & pieces for his camera
An online subscription to a website related to one of his hobbies

currieaddict · 19/10/2014 07:54

Not much. Something from DS but from me a token gift. We are going to disney in paris in February so saving for that.

Queen0fFeckingEverything · 19/10/2014 07:58

A build your own wooden model of a trebuchet kit (chosen by the DC)

A book on metal casting that he covets but is more than he'd usually spend on a book

A chilli chocolate roulette game

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 19/10/2014 08:06

Excellent ideas on here, jist ordered walking dead monopoly!

WipsGlitter · 19/10/2014 08:16

A voucher for Currys. V v boring but we need a new printer and he will be happy. Possibly socks and pants too.

everydayaschoolday · 19/10/2014 08:36

anyoldname76 we highly recommend the chutney with Hobgoblin from that site. Tis yummy.

mimiasovitch · 19/10/2014 08:46

I'm planning on getting him a Bose Bluetooth iPod dock. My dad has one and he's very envious. If anyone's dh loves gadgets, one if his most favourite things last year was a mini projector. Not much bigger than an iPod Classic, but it works amazingly well. He uses it for work, but also good for photos, films etc. He goes on about it with adoration all the time!

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 19/10/2014 23:51

Hmm, not sure in DH, normally replace some of his clothes, we've stopped buying blue rays as watch online instead. Maybe a kindle cover and voucher as he just got a kindle. Def Haribo, chocolate coins, novelty socks and a satsuma!

DPs get a photo book of the year ie photos of us and DS in 2014) as do DPIL and this year have also requested slippers each. Have previously bought them national trust or RHS membership.

BiddyPop · 20/10/2014 10:45

He is getting a projector for his iPhone, a ManMug (complete with spirit level), a London Bus tree decoration, book about cycling, notebook with vintage cars on the front, fridge magnets that look like iPhone apps, and a sleeve of nice coffee pods for the Nespresso (special edition from a country that we visited on a special holiday before).

He is a traffic and transportation engineer who works on bus and cycle stuff mostly, has to do lots of presentations and loves his tech.

He was not forthcoming with ideas and I had no big one this year, so got lots of small stuff. Which is just as well, as having decided last week that he will buy his own replacement Bose headphones for travelling (the old ones broke - but were extremely well used), we will buy a Bose sound system for the tv as a joint present "to us from us" and not get each other presents this year.

So I won't buy him anymore, but they will be nice things that can still seem like tokens. The only other thing I will buy him is a bottle of Christmas beer for Christmas Eve.

Mimiasovitch, we have that iPod speaker and it's GREAT. We use it to play Radio 4 extra in the bedroom using the iPads and an internet radio app, but can move the speaker around the house too and use it for Spotify and other internet radio stations etc. It replaced an Internet radio that just started to not work intermittantly after about 6 years, but R4X is very good for comedy to send us to sleep, and DH needs talk radio at bedtime.

I think the projector I've got DH sounds like what your DH already has.

RiverTam · 20/10/2014 10:51

possibly a mechanical Swatch. Book of Donald Duck cartoon strips.

drspouse · 20/10/2014 10:56

I got DH a Chromecast for his birthday and I do often get my DM theatre tickets.

EdwiniasRevenge · 20/10/2014 11:05

Looking for ideas here.

This will be my first Christmas with DP so need to get something 'proper' and 'inspired' and not just pants and socks type stuff.

I've already got some of his favourite chocolate and a token mug with a slogan which is very apt. But need a main idea.

Problem is he has lots more money than me and prefers quality over quantity and often buys what he needs when he needs it. Will probably be alcohol but I'd rather find a better idea...

So if anyone wants to offer suggestions for a "first christmas together" gift they would be appreciated.

Sounds fab Biddy. He knows he likes the sound, as he's envied my dad's one for a while, but I hadn't even considered internet radio. I hope he keeps it at home!

2kidsintow · 20/10/2014 21:32

I'm debating whether to get DH a Tom Tom sat nav as the one we have is rubbish, but I got him a big gift last year (laptop as his was dying and in pieces!) and his reception of it was not grateful and he made me cry so this year he may not get a 'big' gift after all.

I have got him...
New weird Al cd
Wallet ninja
A little figure from Family guy that poops out jelly beans.

And will also get
Quality street
Old Spice (he's always worn it and I love it)
Mixed selection of ciders
Some biscuits - usually in a novelty shaped tin.

Nospringflower · 20/10/2014 21:49

2kids where did you get the family guy pooper?! Think it would be good for my son. Off to google iPhone projectors as well!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 20/10/2014 22:05

Anyone know of any projectors for Samsung phones?

Nancery · 20/10/2014 22:18

edwinas why don't you get some fabulous underwear or something of that ilk and give him... Yourself!

2kidsintow · 20/10/2014 22:36

Nospring... I think it was B&M and they were cheap, only a few pounds.

If you have a DH, what are you buying him? Same question about your DPs.
EdwiniasRevenge · 20/10/2014 22:52

Nancery definitely a possibility. I did that in.the past with an ex....and it fell flat on my face so bit warey about being hurt again.

in any case I still need a proper and sensible gift to go with the bits and pieces and 'myself'...

MrsCurrent · 20/10/2014 23:08

DH is in one sense very easy to buy for, if it was our first Christmas I could buy him:

Top from one of a range of selected brands
Aftershave
Clinique stuff
Leather bracelet/beaded necklace
Thorntons mint chocs
Man DVD
Variation on soft rock style cd
Plus all manner of Christmassy accessories and gifts.

However... 13 years of buying the same things means it's very hard to buy something special anymore (we are big kids who do surprises instead of asking).

Ledkr · 20/10/2014 23:19

A new printer and now a popcorn maker cos I saw it on here and want one!
