Christmas books?

Any recommendations? As well as all the carols and fun books (spot, mog etc) I would like a nicely illustrated nativity one suitable for a 3 year old?

Last year we bought 'Father Christmas need a wee'

This year we have 'Father Christmas comes up trumps'

the dinosaur that pooped Christmas - very silly but my 5 year old dd found it hilarious I was struggling to read it between giggling

I am also searching for a nativity book for a 3 year old but no joy so far. I have however just bought Alfie's Christmas by Shirley Hughes and it's lovely- perfect for this age. I've read it twice already although it won't appear on the bookshelf until December .

We got 'Father Christmas is coming to Lancashire' last year ( you can get them for nuggets towns/ cities or counties if more remote) which is lovely, there were lots of references to our home town, but I saw the 'Father Christmas is coming to Cumbria' the other day and it looked rubbish so I guess it's best to look at your local one first.

Oops! That should say larger not nuggets!!

Was just about to say Santa Claus comes to Yorkshire or whatever city/county you are from.

"Mr Willowby's Christmas Tree" by Robert Barry is lovely; for "wintery" books rather than specifically Christmas themed ones, we love "The Tomten" by Astrid Lindgren and "Ollie's Ski Trip" by Elsa Beskow.

despondentmummy I just saw in the Book People's newsletter that they have a Christmas Story Set of 3 books for £4.99 one of which is The Nativity. This is for age 1 plus so may be a bit young. Also saw they had a book called My Nativity for £2.99 for age 3 plus which is a "press out and play story, sticker and colouring book".

We have an Usbourne touchy feely nativity book, but that might be a bit babyish for a 3 yr old.

Oh, and Rod Campbell's Dear Santa.

Although it does annoy me that the final present is a kitten. That's the most unsuitable present in the book IMO.

I could not remember a really lovely, simple, funny and heartwarming nativity my kids loved but someone has mentioned it on Nother thread.
