DVDs for pre-teen kids

Hi,

I'm loving the idea of pamper hampers for Christmas for my nieces. I'm thinking pjs, fluffy socks, bath bombs, nail stuff. I was thinking of including some DVDs, hot chocolate, marshmallows, popcorn and choccies too.

My nieces are 10 and 11, and my own DD is 6, so what she likes wouldn't necessarily be their cup of tea. They are 'young' 10 and 11 year olds in that they're definitely not into older girl things. To give an idea, they love horses and Sylvanian Families still.

So I'm stuck on DVDs. I was thinking of a few old school ones like The Princess Bride and Labyrinth, but was then thinking I should include something not from the 80s, but that's not entirely necessary. Does anybody have any ideas of not too grown-up movies that still wouldn't be too babyish for 10 and 11 year old girls please?

Thank you!

Definitely get Labyrinth. It was loved by the 10, 12 and 13 year old I shared it with recently. They also liked Fly Away Home, E.T. and Madeline.

Freaky Friday (Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan one), Dolphin Tale and Parent Trap are very popular in this house - dd1 is 9.5.

Thank you so much for the suggestions.

Only heard of Nativity today. Looked it up on You Tube, think one of them would love it.

Great to hear that Labyrinth was a hit. I loved it when I was a kid, though I must hang my head in shame for making a comment along the lines of 'That David Bowie guy was a really good singer. He should sing instead of act.' My oh so cool older brother tried to disown me on the spot. I don't blame him now....

My 10 year old loves Elf and Nativity, she also loves Harry potter, hunger games and classics like 'the never ending story' and 'goonies'.
