Please help me find a doll for my DD that won't freak me out?!

I have a 2.2yo DD who loves dolls. Only problem is I hate them. They freak me out for some reason. However, I am not going to deny my little girl a doll because of my slightly weird issue with them and we'd like to get her one for Chrstimas.

Can you help me find one that I can tolerate? What's the cutest doll you have seen? I loves rag dolls and she has a rag doll which she adores, but she would really loves a 'baby' doll. I'm quite pleased about this because it's the ones with lots of wirey hair and eyes that open and shut that freak me out the most. A baby one I can cope with.

I've seen the baby Annabel ones which are ok I guess, but any others I should consider? It doesn't have to do anything...just one she can push around in her pushchair. Perhaps one that she can dress and undress. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Baby Stella is a cute soft bodied baby doll, you get loads of outfits and accessories too for presents in future years.

Have a look at these....

corolle dolls

CoffeeChocolateWine · 06/10/2014 12:24

Thanks for the suggestion Badtz, but it's definitely a plastic-type doll that she would like but with a soft body ideally.

Was also going to suggest Corolle dolls - my dd had Calin at that age - I think she is much, much nicer than Anabelle. She still plays with the Corolle doll(she's 8 now) , whereas Annabel died a death years ago

A my first baby annabel (or baby born,I never know the difference) is quite good. DD's was soft bodied but made out of plasticky fabric so she could bath it. Though I have to say her favourite was a basic one from argos. It was huge, but light to carry and nice and soft. It made some noises. It was called baby Ella but I don't think they make it any more. I suspect ToysRUs would still have something similar in their You and Me range.

A lot of it is the accessories though. We had a ToysRUs set for a fiver that contained everything like brush comb, feeding stuff, random bath product bottles, rubber duck etc.

Have a look in a website called petalina. You can put in the age to find suitable ones and there is lots of choice.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 06/10/2014 13:25

The Corolle ones look good and to me they have a softer, cuter face than the baby Annabell ones. A definite possibility, thank you.

Had a look at Petalina too but they look a bit more expensive that what I wanted to pay really. By thank you for the suggestion.

I'd recommend this one which is a My First Baby Annabell but seems to be an older model than the current ones as their eyes don't close.

DD2 has this one and it's great - not too freaky, doesn't do anything fancy beyond closing its eyes, has a soft body but plastic limbs/head and fit in the Baby Born and the Bear Factory clothes. It was DD2's 2nd birthday present from us and is still a firm favourite.

Corrolle dolls Smell beautiful as well.

Even dh loves dd1s corolle doll.

It's the perfect doll for a 2 year old

We got my dad a Dolls World one for her 2nd birthday. I think it was the "little treasure" one. I scoured the Internet (to the point of obsession) before finding it and was really pleased with it. She's just the job: doesn't freak me out, she's got a cute face, no crazy talking/weeing or whatever.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 06/10/2014 22:42

Not my dad, obviously. My dd. stupid phone, doesn't it get mn??

loubielou31 · 07/10/2014 14:07

My DDs each have one of these dolls one girl and one boy. I know they're not soft bodied but really have been the most played with doll because they can be bathed. My mum bought each them the doll, a washing up bowl to use as a baby bath, a towel, some mini baby toiletries and a little dolly outfit about three years ago. I would recommend it as a gift idea.
You might think this doll is nicer looking?
