I love a lot of the stuff that gets radio time and makes the best of albums, but how about the more unusual songs?

I'll start with Nana Mouskouri's 'Old Toy Trains' and Low's 'It was just like Christmas'.

I just love Micheal Buble Christmas album

BornToFolk · 03/10/2014 19:36

I bought the Ceelo Green Christmas Album last year and I loved it! So did DS.

Hobbes8 · 03/10/2014 19:39

XFM did a Christmas album a few years ago with lots of indie bands doing christmas music. It features a surprisingly upbeat Eels song called "everyone's going to feel good this christmas".

Hobbes8 · 03/10/2014 19:42

Ooh that Ceelo Green album looks fab! Is that Joni Mitchell's River? I love that song. That and the muppets? That's me sold.

TheRealMaryMillington · 03/10/2014 19:45

Sufjan Stevens Songs For Christmas
Laura Marling Goodbye England (Covered in Snow)
Fleet Foxes White Winter Hymnal

For Folks' Sake Christmas CDs are great

TheSpottedZebra · 03/10/2014 19:47

No to Ce lo Green. Really, don't give that dreadful man any more money.

TheSpottedZebra · 03/10/2014 19:48

I love Calypso Christmas. Just perfect.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 03/10/2014 19:51

Feliz Navidad from
Michael Bubles album is one of my favourites.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 03/10/2014 19:52

Oh don't I'm so excited already . I love the one that starts " it's christmaaaaaas" . Sorry I know it's cheesy and old fashioned but just love it when I'm out Christmas shopping.

My baby's first Christmas so double excited and already been singing Christmas carols to him when we are out with the pram. Had some funny looks ha ha

tassisssss · 03/10/2014 19:54

I adore Mariah Carey. I start listening to it on Dec 1st.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 03/10/2014 19:54

Oh my goodness, this is great! Thank you!

The whole Low Christmas album is great. And of course I love the Boney M Christmas music. Grin

Funny Looking Angels by Smith and Burrows. They are the singer from Editors and the drummer from Razorlight and it's a beautiful album.

TheRealMaryMillington · 03/10/2014 20:02

YY to Smith and Burrows, especially When The Thames Froze

Ladymoods · 03/10/2014 20:15

I love 'Under the Tree' by the Water Babies, I rarely hear this played but it's such a lovely song.

TheGonnagle · 03/10/2014 20:23

Aimee Mann, one last drifter in the snow.
Christmas cocktails too.

Taffeta · 03/10/2014 20:27

Fave in this house is "Zat you, Santa Claus?" by Louis Armstrong

GrouchyKiwi · 03/10/2014 20:32

Josh Groban's Christmas album is beautiful (and slightly schmaltzy, as is should be) and I always love Bing Crosby Christmas music.

Nothing off piste from me; I'm a traditionalist. Grin

anyoldname76 · 05/10/2014 21:41

I love the Annie Lennox Christmas album

WoweeZowee · 05/10/2014 21:50

The Phil Spector Christmas Gift...
Aimed Mann
Hanson. Really. I love it. Grin

VeryPunny · 06/10/2014 14:50

Cerys Matthews has a great Christmas album - can't remember the name of it right now though.

FreeButtonBee · 06/10/2014 18:48

A bit of a specialist one but if you are Irish, the horslips have a Christmas album which is fabulously folky. I adore it and can't wait for December so I can start to listen to it again.

VillageFete · 06/10/2014 18:56

love all christmas music really, favourite albums are mariah's and michael buble's, but of course i know they are very main stream.

love andy burrow's songs from the snowman and the snowdog. not traditionally festive but they really get me in the christmas mood. "hometown" makes me cry Blush

BarbaraPalmer · 06/10/2014 19:05

love White Winter Hymnal

Also Donna and Blitzen by Badly Drawn boy

HolgerDanske · 07/10/2014 00:03

Say what you like about Mariah Carey but All I Want for Christmas is a fantastic song! A true classic.

I like all the usual pop numbers: Slade, Shakin' Stevens, Kim Wilde, the Pogues, Wizzard, Boney M etc etc.

But there is something very special about the oldies, Sinatra, Judy Garland, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney and so on.

Also love love love Carols from King's and listen to their various albums many many times over the holidays.

Ahhhh just love Christmas.
