Gift idea for a child who wants a pet but isn't going to get one!

She had a FurReal once but didn't play with it much, is there something else out there that would stop her asking for a pet?

My DD has been very similar, only just contemplating pets now she is 8. Stick to your guns, and invite friend with cat for sleepover so DD gets reciprocal visit. A cat Pillow Pet would be a good present.

There is absolutely no guarentee that a cat would sleep on her bed likes her friends does.
In fact it would be more likely to sleep on yours (they can sense when someone doesn't want to be near them )

My DD has guinea-pigs and once in Tesco she had a complete arsey-face because I wouldn't let her have one of those Interactive Toy guinea-pigs.

"I want one/I'll wait till my birthday/early birthday/I'll use my own money" etc.

In the end , I said she had 2 real life guineas (who she adored. We now have 3 guineas) and spending £30 on a scabby toy was an insult to him.
If she had £30 to spend, send the money to a Guinea-Pig Rescue.
