SALAD - its one of those things that I will probably end up buying in case he really really wants it - and no one will ever use it!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 27/09/2014 23:15

Where did you get the mobigo?

almamatters · 27/09/2014 23:36

That 4KMY4 code doesn't work on very? Boo Sad

momwhereismy · 27/09/2014 23:36

Sorry meant to say the entertainer :)

izzybizzybuzzybees · 27/09/2014 23:58

Thanks! I found the leappad 2 in toysrus for £29.99 and the voucher code up thread for £5 off takes it to 29.99 :)

momwhereismy · 28/09/2014 01:15

There is also a mp3 player of some sort for £25

Reastie · 28/09/2014 07:12

Oh no, I don't know now whether to give DD the cheap Chinese watch I've ordered for her Confused and whether it's just loom bands and charms or other stuff.

The loom band thing has worried me

Do they have like a British standards thing on reastie?

waithorse · 28/09/2014 07:23

I made the decision a while ago, not to buy anything from Ali Express. You just can't be sure about how they are made and what's in them. Shame though, fantastic prices.

I'm busy today and won't be able to fight to try and finish the thread. Sad

Reastie · 28/09/2014 07:33

3pigs a previous posted mentioned they can stick on the CE mark but it doesn't mean it's actually passed, they might just stick it on anyway. I assume there's no way of properly knowing?

It's so difficult because things you buy in the UK can be bought from China so anything online from eBay, Amazon sellers, pound shops etc. Depends how strict you want to go.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 28/09/2014 07:42

I think I saw actually that you should look for a British address on the packaging?

MooseyMoo · 28/09/2014 07:50

Was someone looking for a cheaper Elf on the Shelf? This Elf is £5.99

PinkSquash · 28/09/2014 08:18

£30 off £60 at Very: 4HUJX valid to 30/9.

DS2 has asked for a Kiddizoom camera, he's 2, so probably a bit young? If there's any deals on it, I probably would buy it Blush I'll

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 28/09/2014 08:20

Is the very code dependent on if you can get credit with them?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/09/2014 08:27

We have mobigo 2 brought for £30 with cars on an offer 2 Xmas ago when ds was 2yrs 4mths he liked the drawing on it but more recently has got into some games I managed to get some games cheap this yr in debenhams Jan sales about £6 each n sometimes Amazon do them cheap.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/09/2014 08:28

PinkSquash · 28/09/2014 08:34

You don't need a credit account- I've just opened a new account to see and it allowed me too add it without a credit account

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 28/09/2014 08:35

Ooo yay

PinkSquash · 28/09/2014 08:36

Cheers Eastmids I'll keep an eye out for it, DS2s birthday is in February so I may save it too then. Smile

Elvish · 28/09/2014 08:36

That duvet is lovely MrsAsprey but too expensive until I get all my m&s loyalty vouchersGrin

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 28/09/2014 08:41

Very code won't work for me

Elvish · 28/09/2014 08:42

Pink the cameras are really good, DD uses her's a lot now she is 5 but has had and used it for 2 or 3 years. 2 might be a bit young but it has been a really good investment. I can't think of anything else we've had as long that is still used and isn't damagedGrin

Toys should be CE marked to show that they meet the European requirements for toy safety but it's a self-certification that isn't checked by a 3rd party. If it's a mains-powered toy or if it contains lasers the requirements are slightly different and more checks will be in place. The best guarantee of safety is buying through a reputable shop as if anything goes wrong, it's their responsibility to the customer so the onus is on them to check their suppliers properly. If there is a European representative address on the packaging, that's even better.

Personally, I'm a bit dubious about buying toys directly from non-European or American suppliers as there are no guarantees that they've performed toxicity and biocompatibility testing on their materials - thinking lead paint, carcinogenic plastics, rash-causing dyes etc. It's up to everyone to make their own personal decision about where they buy from. Plenty of suppliers are perfectly safe and legitimate but some aren't.
