Would like to do a mini version of elf on the shelf this year. However, the original version's elf scares me and the other ones I can find are either equally eurgh or v. expensive.

Any suggestions ...?

Alipress sell them for around £5 posted from China. That's what I am going to do

We have a gund elf as that was the nicest one I could find, I got it a couple of years ago (new) for about £10 on eBay but now can't find anywhere that sells them for less than £35 Hmm

Ooh, never heard of alipress. Just googled it and can't find any elves. Do you have a link by any chance?

We got this Elf not exactly cheap (£25) but you get a lot and he's very cute!

I'm sure ikea did a nice one last year - was hoping it'd be back this year. It's either that or Olaf on a shelf since all the other elves creep me out a bit!

ipswichwitch · 20/09/2014 09:45

Fern that ones rather sweet

FernArable · 20/09/2014 10:13

It's very easy to pose and has velcro on its hands so you can attach it to things. Ours is called Chippy McFarnsworth! Can't wait to et him back out this year, the kids are already talking about him.

Fern - how old are your dc? Mine are 9 and 6 as far as I know they both still believe. He looks gorgeous but I wonder if I could be pushing my luck with the eldest?!

NorksEnormous · 20/09/2014 10:31

Last year card factory did a little elf teddy for 99p! He was very cute

tanya1312 · 20/09/2014 11:04

Sixeroftheelves last year was our first year and my daughter was 10 either she still believes or just not saying otherwise, my grandson was not quite 2. My daughter has already said she hopes the elves come back x

I quite like that one you posted Fern DD14 really wants to do elf for DS2 and DS3 and I've been put off by the scary elves! Love the name too Grin

Blondieminx · 20/09/2014 14:26

I've seen mention on another thread that IKEA start their Christmas stuff as from the 1st week in October...

FernArable · 20/09/2014 15:30

DC's are 7 and 3. They both loved it last year and keep saying they hope he comes back. I think definitely go for it with the 9 year old even if they don't believe next year our elf brings treats throughout December so just threaten with if you don't believe you don't get!
I got them into the idea with this DVD. I think the elf in it looks more like our elf than the original anyway.

The cute little elf is £22.49; there is also a personalised set at £24.49 if you want child / children's name(s) included. Actual toy is a great size, about 35cm, and has velcro hands
