My toddler has seen the ads promising piles of delicious gold and is transfixed.
Are they as good as the ad says or a pile of golden poo?

Utter, utter rubbish.

Almost a whole day (in 5YO concentration span terms) to make/set/wrap one cheap coin. And you have to melt the chocolate separately.

I can't tell you how rubbish it is.

nowwearefour · 19/09/2014 07:42

You will find it hard to find a more rubbish toy on the market

GerbilsAteMyCat · 19/09/2014 07:43

Yes, they are rubbish!

tshirtsuntan · 19/09/2014 07:44

Absolutely awful! The lolly maker is marginally better but comes with no chocolate at all...I'd avoid both for any child younger than 8 to be honest.

LizzieMint · 19/09/2014 07:44

We have the chocolate lolly maker from the same company and they are indeed utter crap. However, my DD inexplicably loves it! She's used it loads and makes lollies for her friends etc. we've had it a few years and it still gets used. Confused

OhMyArsingGodInABox · 19/09/2014 07:44

Oh so crap. We had ChocolateCoinMakerGate a few years ago when it was the only thing then 5yo ds wanted for Christmas and I hadn't got it because it looked shit. So I bought it in January. And OHMYGOD the depths of crapness if it were unimaginable.

Please don't waste your time and money. It is the Mister Frostee of this generation. Utter codswallop.

mabelbabel · 19/09/2014 07:47

Make a chocolate lolly kit instead with some bits from Lakeland - they have a nice little jug for melting choclate in the microwave, plus moulds. Then throw in some nice chocolate, cellophane bags for wrapping, and ribbons and stickers to decorate. Went down well with my niece.

DearPrudence · 19/09/2014 07:50

It's absolute shite - and not in a 'oh, the kids love it but it drives me mad' kind of way. Even children think it's shite once they finally get their hands on it.

PureMorning · 19/09/2014 07:51

A resounding no then. I will shove a net of coins in his stocking instead.

I know the mister frostee was crap but I'm still bitter that I never got one for christmas...I'm 29

We had a mister Frostee and I wish we hadn't as the idea of it was beautiful and the reality shattered my childhood innocence and dreams.

My ds (4) always asks for a chocolate lolly maker when the ad comes on tv.

Thanks for the idea about the Lakeland kit, maybe we can get one of those instead.
