I purchased a frozen dvd from dvdhouse.co.uk ( recommended from reasties thread) . When it arrived it was clearly a fake region one dvd sent from Thailand. Has anyone else had this problem?
I would caution anyone thinking of buying from this site.

Yes I opened it yes it's a copy but a very good one, daughter and grandson happy with it, only ordered frozen, now I know the company do copies I won't order anymore.

Well its almost 5am And I'm sitting here raging, for a month I have been waiting for my daughter to receive her frozen DVD! I came across the problem with dvdhouse through another site (hot deals UK) only hours ago and then on this site where you guys have spoken of your dealings with them! I have sent email to dvdhouse (not that I expect a reply) and have just opened the case with PayPal! Just told them that I want a refund and not to fob me off with the legal jargon so I hope it does get resolved. I placed my order on 11 th Aug and still haven't received it and after reading everyones comments, I really don't want to!! I hope everyone gets their disputes resolved and that this company can get whats coming to them! Just imagine how much money has actually been made from this.....it is sickening and I know that I will stick to good old Amazon in future, lesson learnt :(

Looks like Paypal got burnt as well and so are covering their arses.

SoonToBeSix · 23/09/2014 06:31

You are much more likely to get a refund for item not received angH22

Oh here's hoping, I'm almost willing it not to arrive lol!! Yeah surely PayPal wouldn't want to be associated with such a scamming site!!

At last, managed to get Paypal to see sense. I gave up on pursuing the fake side of things and put in a new claim of not receiving part of an order (missing Lion King trilogy DVD). Was most surprised this morning to receive the following response from Paypal:

"Because we were unable to obtain additional information from DVDBritish Group, Inc., this claim has been decided in your favour and you've received a refund of £37.96 GBP.

If you paid with a card, the money is refunded to your card. Please note that it can take up to 30 days for the refund to appear on your card statement.

"Transaction Details"

  • Claim number: -074
  • Seller's name: DVDBritish Group, Inc.
  • Transaction date: 30 August 2014
  • Transaction amount: -£37.96 GBP
  • Your transaction ID:

Yours sincerely,

PayPal

So I think you would probably have more success if you put in a claim for not receiving an order if that was the case.

Yes I didn't receive something once then I got a refund. Am tempted to lie and say the dvd case was empty!

Glad you got a refund lil888

Thanks. It was hard work but at least Paypal have at last acknowledged that the company is not playing fairly. I had already included the missing part order with the initial claim of "SNAD" but that had been completely overlooked by them with the more significant claim of goods being counterfeit. With nothing to lose it made sense to make an additional but separate claim for not receiving part of the order. I ended up getting a full refund for the whole order. Must have wore Paypal down!

I too would advise avoiding this company. I ordered the 'Frozen' DVD at the beginning of September, believing, that they were a British company (ie they have a .co.uk at the end of their web address, and email address), and I still haven't received it. I've emailed them twice and had no response.

SoonToBeSix · 02/10/2014 17:46

UPDATE: I actually received a refund from paypal today. Originally they said I had to return the dvd to Thailand at my expense. I sent PayPal a refund explaining my reasons why I was not prepared to return it - which they ignored. A week after sending them email , email informed me they had closed the case in dvdhouse favour as I had not communicated with paypal!
I was livid and rang up PayPal they said as the case had been closed they could no longer pursue a refund from the seller. However as the company had misrepresented themselves as a UK company paypal refunded me themselves.

Hippicat how did you pay?

OP posts:
lil88 · 03/10/2014 22:53

Seems like you get a different response from Paypal if you phoned instead of emailing. By emailing Paypal they response by just trotting out their standard returns policy i.e you have to return the items to the sender.

SoonToBeSix · 03/10/2014 23:09

Yes they emailed me that response but when I rang they immediately offered a refund. It says " one tine goodwill gesture" on my paypal account.

So glad to see everyone seems to get a refund. As I wanted to add that ofc the copy is good. But you don't have to pay for a copy. And certainly not paying a possibly criminal fan for the privilege of one! You can get a perfectly fine bluray rip by searching on Google (page one result). At least then no criminals get any moenyHmm

lil88 · 05/10/2014 22:01

Asda has a special offer on selected Disney DVds 2 for £13 - includes Disney Frozen! So have just ordered Frozen from there plus some other DVDs - at least they should be genuine

SoonToBeSix · 05/10/2014 23:06

Brill thanks for the tip.
