Suggestions for grandparents for baby

DS will be 3 mo at Christmas. Soon DHs parents will ask what to buy him for approx £80 for Christmas
Any suggestions?

We already have a sit it music static walker type thing, floor playmat and all the practical things.

What would be worth buying other than clothes?

How about:
A selection of books -classics like gruffalo, hungry caterpillar, new baby books like Dear Zoo, things they loved reading when you / OH were little?
Clothes are outgrown so quickly and there's always the taste issue

I was thinking more on the lines of one thing - books are fine but I could ask people who spend less for those if they ask for suggestions thanks

My mum bought/ paid for one of my daughters first passport for her first Christmas. It was a great idea.

A nice bookshelf which others can fill or a toy box. Both will grow with baby

What about membership to a local zoo/farm park?

Jumperoo?

Do you have a garden? Sand pit, water table etc. given that DS won't have his first birthday until after next summer.

It's worth having a look at the 6/9 to 12month toys in elc etc. if you're looking for fun stuff.

For the 1st 2 years my little boy had money from everyone for both birthday and Christmas. His baby brother also had money for his first Christmas. It was all put into a savings account. It has just bought them both a climbing frame, slide and trampoline which we could never have afforded on our own. It also meant we didn't have loads of unwanted toys cluttering the house.

DS was 5mths and got a wooden baby swing for the garden (he was using it by spring)

DD1 was 7 weeks and got Smart Trike (she used it from Easter)

DD2 was 3mths and got a beautiful floral print rocking horse. It sat in her room (looking lovely!) until she was nearer 2 but she loves it now!

There is nothing I wish we'd had at three months that would last more than a couple of months.

It's only £40, but this is what DH's parents bought for DS's first xmas:

He is 3.5 now, and until really recently it was still his favourite toy, as you can adapt it to suit various developmental stages. highly recommended.

if they want to spend more, you could look for a swanky wooden version?

So boring....I think you can buy all this gear type stuff for pennies from all sorts of places....

so what about buying lessons, or something to do in a few months? Vouchers for tumble tots...

Or, something very personal babys first xmas type thing .....

Personally unless you are comfortably off...I wouldnt waste the money on buying this stuff..I went to a baby sale today and honestly, so much equipment there for £2 or £5 and so on, all amazing brands and looked new...rockers, play dens, high chairs...

if you have one near you, excellent idea..I would dealy love to have membership to ours...another idea is NT membership, nice places to go too....usually safe from dogs and dogs shit, very child friendly these days with activities and play area...

Something for his nursery? Wooden castle? I would pick something that grows with him. Or for the garden, a swing, perfect for spring.

Got a jumperoo type thing. Also I have a small house and 3 other DCs so no nursery or room for massive toys. But if I don't give a fun suggestion I will end up with a massive unwanted toy.

Thinking a garden toy might be the way to go - but it's a waste to put a toy in the garden for 6 months. I sound like an ungrateful bitch
