Is it too early to be getting excited?

Today (incidentally the hottest day of the year so far where I am) I was in a shop which I often visit in the run-up to Christmas to hunt for bargains and I felt a very definite tingle. Those tingles are getting earlier every year but this is ridiculous isn't it?!

Actually I don't care. I'm excited for Christmas and it's only June but there it is

Yep. Ridiculous.

Haven't you got anything else to look forward to in the meantime. I mean I love Christmas but I'm not wishing the summer - or indeed the year - away for it!

I've joined my butchers Christmas club today.

BitOutOfPractice yes there's loads I'm looking forward to in between then and now (holidays, my birthday, DH's birthday etc) but the Christmas tingle is a very specific kind of excitement I'm not wishing the year away at all - I adore summer! - but I'm just excited for Christmas, too.

Ive been excited since about April and im getting worse!
DP is sick of hearing about it and my family think im completely nuts.
I have already made a big dent in my present shopping and have a list of the ones I need to get.
I booked panto tickets yesterday and we have a 'December day out' saving jar on the go now as there a lot that happens locally from the last week in November

I'm ridiculously excited too. My family just sort of smile and nod when I start talking about anything Christmas related. I don't care I love it.

So I'm not alone, thank goodness! DH and DD are just as bad as me thankfully.

Oh and I bought my Christmas Day dress today

I have Excitment Dates
25th June is my DD birthday, so apart from the annual celebration of my daughter (who is called Holly ) appearing, it's exactly half way to Christmas.

Then 25th (and 24th last year) July is QVC Christmas in July

Then in Sept when the DC go back to school, Costco start introducing their Christmas Range (yes, it's early, but they supply to retailers too)

Then the build up to DH birthday, Hallowe'en, Guy Fawkes, DS Birthday.

Then Christmas.

Not wishing away anything, but I don't want to be the tooth grindy wailing person in the car-park.
I get enough tooth grindy wailing from the DC

I can't buy my dress yet, I'm hoping to lose alot of weight and a gallbladder before Christmas.

I have a couple of presents stashed away and one of those metal saving tins you can only get into with a tin opener on the go. It'll probably pay for Christmas dinner and a few more presents. That's really organised for me, I don't usually do anything until at least October.

I confess I have started to think about winter. In that if I want to make a needle felt nativity, it might be a good idea to make a start now, rather than think "Blast it, there's no time!" in late November.

I am looking forward to autumn though.

I have things to look forward to in between - visitng my parents for a week, getting DD2 ready for preschool, a few birthdays but Christmas is my ultimate every year

We do celebrate other festivals in between (you may do too?). Summer Solstice, Winter Solstice, Michaelmas (with dragon bread etc), Martinmas (lanterns) etc So Christmas seems a long way off by comparison.

I do the same 70 it's Christmas in July on QVC, then in August it's our holiday. Then in September it's dd's birthday and that's when I let myself really start getting sorted for Christmas. I also love love love all the other things in between, Halloween and bonfire night. It sounds like I'm wishing the time away and I'm really not, I just love Autumn and winter with all the fun things to do.

Erm, i am currently sitting under a duvet with my 5yr old watching Christmas with the Cranks....nuff said.

70 yes we have 'milestone dates' in the run up too, the run up being from mid June onwards it seems I hope to lose a bit of weight by Christmas too, but the dress is very forgiving if I don't or if I do and get fat again on mince pies and Baileys in December

I have a coin jar in which I put all my silver change at the end of every day, and change up the whole lot come Christmas. Last year it had over £140 in it! I change it on about 23 Dec (food shop day) then immediately start again for the following year. So I guess the preparation for next Christmas starts BEFORE Christmas in my house
