Ages for lapland holiday?

I am carefully posting in the Christmas topic so as to avoid causing fainting fits amid the masses for mentioning Christmas in April!

Dp and I had a loose plan to look at a 4 night trip to Lapland (quite fancy Saariselka) in 2015. I was looking up some prices today, and I see that a lot of the extra activities can only be done from age 4, and this is giving me second thoughts. In 2015 our dds will be 4 and 2, should we wait another couple of years? If we wait until dd2 is 4 then dd1 will be 6, will she still believe in father christmas then? I definitely knew the truth by that age, but I had an older brother who spilled the beans.

What are the best ages for this sort of trip?

I went when I was 27! (Honeymoon so pre children)
I plan to go again when the kids are older, I was thinking when the youngest was about 3.
Having said that my friend was there with her 18 month old and they had a great time, she even took her on an over night northern lights hunting trip.

I have booked to go to Saariselka this Christmas, the DCs will be aged 7 and 5 (nearly 8 and 6). I have read that the cold can be difficult for young children to cope with. We went to Lapland UK last year and that trip was enough to dispel any doubts in my then 6-year old's mind about FC...!

Has anyone been with under 4s, did you find that you had enough to do?

We went when dds were 7&5 and dd5 was very slightly too young i felt. It's not just the cold (it's freezing!), but the Santa trips have long days (we went four days and you pack loads in). For us it was the excursions which made it and yes you do need to be four, tbh I never saw any kids under 4 at all. Dd9 still believes.

I agree- wait a few years. You will want your youngest to remember the trip, and at 2 unlikely to.
The Santa magic never dies. My 14 year old still leaves out a carrot and biscuit. She doesn't belive but we keep the magic alive.
