brussels sprouts in potato salad: acceptable?

Have been asked to make a potato salad. Will not be using mayo, will have creme fraiche instead.

Morrisons had no chives left but I do have sprouts.

Could this be a festive hit? It's to go with a buffet of beef, gammon etc.

Or will I be hated and reviled?

I wouldn't be happy.

EBearhug · 24/12/2013 22:17

Will the sprouts be cooked?

I have to say that as much as I love both spuds and sprouts, I'm not sure Christmas is the time to experiment with mixing them. Unless it's a warm salad possibly.

I'm not convinced though.

Vajazzler · 24/12/2013 22:18

Ewwwww yuk! It's bad enough that sprouts even exist but to ruin a perfectly good potato salad with them is sacrilege! The same goes for creme fraiche.

MorrisZapp · 24/12/2013 22:20

No takers then :)

Ok, well I have the potatoes and the creme fraiche. Any other corner shop greens that could go in? Don't think I'll get to a supermarket.

Spring onions or thinly sliced red onion would be acceptable.

Sprouts err no.

HyvaPaiva · 24/12/2013 22:20

Only if you're cooking for people you don't like...

Serious suggestion though: chives, spring onions, dill, or green chillies are all really good in potato salad.

MelanieCheeks · 24/12/2013 22:26

Sprouts are not an acceptable chive alternative.

Sprouts are detested by many. I wouldn't put them in a dish I was taking to be shared.

mrsoh79 · 24/12/2013 22:28

My dad puts spring onion in his and I love it Grin

Northumberlandlass · 24/12/2013 22:28

If you need to bulk it out, pop some al dente pasta in there too.

Onesleeptillwembley · 24/12/2013 23:09

I love both creme fraich and sprouts but that sounds fucking revolting.

Onesleeptillwembley · 24/12/2013 23:10

Wasn't this recipe in Letitia Cropleys cook book?

JollySantersSelectionBox · 24/12/2013 23:29

Yes next to the cake with marmite icing!

Onesleeptillwembley · 24/12/2013 23:34

My DH says if you're ruining it with creme fraiche anyway, sprouts won't make any difference. But he is a bit high on port and gruyere Grin

JuneauWhoIAm · 24/12/2013 23:52

I lost you on them creme fraiche.

Sprouts...
Do you really need to ask.

REALLY????

RiojaHaze · 24/12/2013 23:54
