Is there a website that'll work out how long to cook my turkey for?

I've recently gone from a conventional electric oven to a fan oven & am still managing to ever so slightly burn things Hmm ...I need foolproof timings atm so we don't end up with burnt Christmas dinner Confused

Any idea the best place to look before I start furiously googling?

Typically I find I need to cook at 10-20 degrees lower than recipe or packaging suggests.

In my fan oven I usually cook chicken/turkey for 20mins per pound plus 20mins so a 5lb bird would need 2hrs & I do it at 180 - comes out fine. Hth

I have a rather nifty Waitrose app on my phone. Under Cooks Tools there is a "perfect timing" section that you simply choose the meat and the cut, how you want it cooked if beef or lamb and it tells you how long to cook it for- there's a timer as well but I have managed to turn it off accidentally in the past so never quite trust it Xmas Grin

Thanks for your replies, have been busily trying to get rather a lot done today Confused

I've got no wifi for a week after moving & apps seem to take forever using 3g so will make a note of the waitrose one for next week when wifi back on.

It's a 10lb bird so around 4.5hours ish I'm guessing but will keep a close eye on it after 4.

Just to say thanks for your help omama, the turkey was the first thing I haven't frazzled around the edges since cooking in a fan oven! Xmas Smile
