Longleat at Christmas - anyone been and any top tips?

We are planning to go on the 23rd and am really hoping the DC love it (3 and 6). Has anyone been? We have booked the santa train - is it any good?? And if you have been to the safari park (xmas or not) - what are the food options like? Can we take packed lunch and not have to sit in the freezing rain to eat it? Thanks for any tips or comments!

It's brilliant, but will be very cold and the trains seem to be running a bit later than scheduled.

Nowhere inside to eat but the restaurants are ok, just a little expensive and can get busy.

The safari boat is great, as is the house and the penguins. Get there as early as you can as the queues to even get to the carpark have been huge.
