Food shop on Christmas Eve?

Please help! We're away until late on the 23rd and I haven't organized an internet shop. Will there be any shops (tesco M&S sainsburys) open on Christmas Eve? I've tried looking online for hours over Christmas but can't find them. Will anywhere be open or will we starve?

Yes they're all open.

Allalonenow · 19/12/2013 19:18

Yes, they will all be open, go as early as you can. It will be horrible.

MincedMuffPies · 19/12/2013 19:18

Everything will be open, it may be Sunday opening hours.

I've got most of my stuff coming Monday but as I don't get paid till Tuesday I can't afford it all Monday so will top up Christmas eve.

Last time I did this I got a shit load of stuff less then half price!

Actually, I've done a big shop on Christmas Eve and it wasn't bad. The panickers would never dream of leaving it that late Wink The shops are shut for one day - you will be able to get everything WineWineWine

They are open until 4 or 5pm. Can you order online now and select click & collect so all you need to is to turn up to collect your shopping.

Alternatively, turn up at 6 am on Christmas Eve and do your shopping.

GingerPCatt · 19/12/2013 19:26

Thank you!! I was starting to panic that we'd starve until Boxing Day.

For the past few years I have got my main dishes on xmas eve, right at the last minuet. you have to have some nerve though and sharp elbows Xmas Grin we got a beautiful gold organic turkey from m and s 50 quid reduced to 12...and lots of other bits, gorgeous puddings, flowers etc etc...

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 19/12/2013 19:35

I always do our food shop on Christmas Eve. I get nice waitrose stuff the day before then go to Tesco around 7am Christmas Eve to get spuds and veg and other bits and bobs. Then back in the car and round the corner to M&S to pick up the pre-ordered turkey by 8am. I'm usually home by 8.30. Any later than this and the queues are horrendous, not just in store but to park the car.
Oh and every year I've done this, there has always been lots of turkeys for sale on the day in Tesco.

ZEvite, i admire your brave leave it till the last minute foray to the supermarket.

In fact, has anyone else been to a supermarket late on xmas eve? sounds heavenly if it really is empty!

piratecat · 19/12/2013 19:39

hmm i might go early xmas eve then for veg.

teenagetantrums · 19/12/2013 19:41
