aargh! what can I put in a stocking for a sodding toy dog?!

DS is 4, and adamant that Santa will bring a present for his toy dog this year. I made a tiny stocking tree decoration which he has decided is for the dog (it wasn't meant to be!).

So I feel I should make something wee to keep up the pretence that Santa exists. Question is, what?!

My mum has offered us a gravy bone, but we fear her real dogs might sniff out and destroy it, which will render DS incoherent, so better not!

Any ideas?

try Wilko maybe for a cheap doggy toy thing? We got a squeaky fluffy bone thingy for a quid a couple of years ago for dd2's toy dog Smile

A collar? A coat to keep it warm on walks? How big is this toy dog?

CambridgeBlue · 19/12/2013 19:03

Poundland have lots of cheap (well £1 obviously!) pet stuff - I know this because I had to buy my DD's toy dog a collar and lead some years back. It was a much better idea than getting one from Build a Bear that cost not far off a tenner!

A packet of chocolate drops, it's well known that is what toy dogs (and small boys) eat.

Chocolate drops sounds like a good plan :o toy dog is small, about 8 inches long. Goes everywhere with him, and has already been packed so we don't forget to take him with us to granny's house :o

No poundland locally, but I will have a look in wilkos and charity shops for tiny dog toys! May make him a fimo bone too :o

Thanks for the ideas - and glad to hear I'm not alone in having this dilemma!

ohh i think a dog coller would be reaaly nice, can be cheap as a £1 but is something that would be used..even if he allready has one.

chocolate chips/drops is really nice idea to...

maybe a little dog basket/pillow? qd.. though im sure you could find one online.. sells little cat/dog pillows with i love my dog / cat on for under a fiver.

wonderingsoul · 19/12/2013 19:09

or even a kitten coller would fit better wouldnt it if its small?

AllThreeWays · 19/12/2013 19:11

A ribbon.

I may just make him a small blanket with yarn scraps. And a small collar, with yarn scraps :o. Given the stocking was also made of yarn scraps, DS may not find any of the presents and they'd be so well camouflaged!
