Mine have about 35 each Shock 10 of those are stocking fillers of things around a pound nothing more then a fiver.

I haven't spent loads but as they're older and its things like dvds and ps3 games it really doesn't look like much compared to previous years of bikes and large similar presents.

I have no idea off the top of my head, will have to think.

35 seems like absolutely masses though - out of interest what kind of stuff is in that 35?

DS1 has got two biggish presents from us, plus a stocking, a couple of books and a board game.
DS2 has got one big present, a couple of books, a puzzle and a stocking.

I've also got another couple of puzzles which will be joint presents.

They get things from family and friends too - maybe another 7-8 presents - so altogether they will have about 15 presents each plus a stocking.

Which seems loads to me, it will be a huge pile for them to open!

I will qualify that my eldest is getting more because our youngest is only 10 months and wont know whatsoever that he is getting 1 or 2 less things. However, I don't think things have to be exactly equal from a number count even when they are older - just sort of generally equal. One may have something more expensive so has one less than the other IYKWIM?

Wow, some people seem to have loads :)

Think we are at the lower end of average Smile

Stocking with essentials in - toothpaste/brush, face cloth, pants, socks etc and six from Santa.

One each from us and then maybe 5 or so from family.

And that seems like loads to me

Off the topof my head ali dd has a secret diary, cake decorating set full of loads of different sprinkles and stuff, perfume, books, poster, DVD, ps3 games x2, spy glasses a yoyo, huge box of maltesers, make your own solar system kit (which is a good size box but was only £2) clothes shoes onesie and remote control car.

Ds has a slightly bigger present of a Lego castle, I bought it before it went up in price now it's over £80 but I got it around the £50 mark, loads of marvel stuff like avengers shower gels avengers perfumes more spider man shower gel, guinness world record book, joke book, remote control car and marble run dvds and ps3 game.

Oh and they both have a board game each to, kerplunk and guess who,

I really haven't spent a lot or if I have I haven't noticed as I've been buying since September.

Unintentionally all 5 DC have ended up with 8 presents each from Father Christmas. They also have 5 stocking fillers each.
They have 1 present each from DP and me and 1 present from their brothers and sisters.
Family tend to buy them vouchers now that they are older.

Audilover · 17/12/2013 17:33

Forgot to say that as they're older now, I give them a budget and they sort their presents from there. It's entirely up to them how many presents they ask for as long as they stick to the budget.

Mine (aged 4 and 2) have one big present of £40 ish, three little presents of around £10, and a stocking with chocolates and small things like pens/hairclips.

They have got 4 grandparents, 3 great-grandparents, 5 sets of uncles and aunts, 7 cousins, five godparents each. We are going to be overflowing so what we have bought is more than enough (£100 each). In fact I think its too much.

Mine have 20 stocking fillers each. Everything from chocolate coins, to socks, pants, deodorant for the big ones, new lunch boxes for school. All stuff they need, sadly for them no real crap.
Revision guides, pens and new pj's.

Under the tree they each have one or 2 big ( ish ) pressies such as an android phone and x box games etc, they have a new fleece each. The boys also have new trainers, the girls have fashion boots. A couple of family games & books.
Think that's it.

Dds both have 21 presents each varying from £5-£20 each (total spend exc main present £200 each). Plus stocking with nail polish, headbands etc, 10 items each. Plus main each and extra shared gift. Everything in our house is from Santa.

They also get about 15 each between both grandparents and 5 each from different family members. They do get loads but Its how I was brought up and I sense it must be regional as everyone I know does around a similar amount and none of us are well of or anything. Mumsnet is the only place I hear were people buy a few things. Not that there's a right or wrong at all, just an observation really.

Have bought DS an Ipad so he has very little else from us. Have saved £10 a week all year to buy it so it doesn't actually feel like we have spent much when we have. Didn't just want one gift under the tree from us so have done a "cinema box" with DVDs, popcorn, popcorn holder and a slushy cup. Also have done a "rainy day box" filled with lots of card games like Monopoly Deal, Cludeo, Boggle Slam, Pictionary etc. The stocking will have a few nice but cheap bits like some hair wax and new tennis balls. GPs will buy lots of plastic tat despite my desperate attempts at explaining to them that he doesn't play with "toys" as such, but they know best!

35 presents, wow. I'm glad mine are just getting a ps4 and games this year. Plus they have an amazon wish list of books for each.

I've done too many charity shop runs with barely played with stuff over the years to bother buying them things just to have a pile of presents. We've still got mountains of Lego which must have cost well over £1000 in total.

6 under the tree from us, 2 from dm/df, probably another 7-10 from family/friends but won't know for certain till they arrive! Plus a stocking, but I don't know how many individual things are in there - just a case of as many as it took to fill up, but it's a fairly small 'traditional' stocking and not a sack or pillowcase.

I'm so glad my DC don't read MN!

Ours have one or two presents under the tree each from us. Sometimes this might be a big presents, but not this year. Then will also get a present each from their grandad, aunt and uncle, plus some money from a couple of other relatives.

Who needs (or indeed benefits from) 35 plus presents !?

BeaWheesht · 17/12/2013 22:43

I don't count presents - I spend a similar amount on them but I don't care if there's the same number as they can both understand some things cost more (age 7 and 3)

13 pressies each under the tree 'from santa' (4 dc). stockings full of little vintage style games, choccy and what not for each. 1 dvd each and a ps4 between them as gift from us

GreenShadowsOfTheChristmasTree · 17/12/2013 22:49

Should have said ours also get a stocking each too.

Report

I don't usually count them, but have just done a quick count in my head for the purpose of this thread, and DD has one (quite big) present from me and 8 presents from Santa (3 of which are books, all quite cheap.) She also has about 6 or 7 stocking fillers, all really cheap tat, also from Santa.

Report
muminthecity · 17/12/2013 22:57

She will probably have another 10 or so to open on Christmas day from friends and family. She is the only child in the family so does tend to get quite spoilt by them all!

for under the tree they have 3 each from us, and one each from FC.

there's some decent stuff in their stockings as well - DVDs, CDs etc.

we used to buy more, but they seemed to get present-opening fatigue, and we ended up putting half of the stuff away for the Easter and summer hols. Now we rein things in a bit, but happily pick up a couple of extra bits through the year if needed.

When I first opened this thread I thought 35 presents sounded like a massive number, but after adding up what my dds are getting we're not too far away from that number.

My dds have 8 presents each from us (more than I intended - I blame the bargain thread!), a joint present from us, a joint present from fc, a present from each other and a present from the dog. There are ten things in their stockings. So 22 each (2 are joint) from immediate family.

They also have a present each and a joint present from dm, one from dmil, one from dbil and family, one from db, one from duncle and daunt, and four from friends. So that's another ten presents.

So my dds have 32 presents each (three of which are joint). I think that's too many, really, but I over bought, and we've been given more presents than I was expecting for them.
