Best shop-bought mincemeat and a cake thats not tiddly?

So, I've left it too late to make a cake (haven't I?) but I can't find an un-iced cake anywhere that isn't tiny. Any ideas?

Also, which shop makes the best mincemeat?

Not too late to make the cake, people make it in advance to let the fruits & alcohol to mature. You still have 2 weeks so you can make a cake but it wont be as rich & boozy as an older one but no bad thing after a rich dinner.

You could do something completely different & make the Nigella Lawson Clementine cake which will counter balance the rich meal.

Also the chocolate, cava and chocolates at Waitrose are half price.

I bought the Waitrose Cranberry mincemeat which is a refreshing lighter alternative to the traditional mincemeat.

Waitrose cranberry mincemeat is lovely. But it's gone from my local one (I even asked and there's none in stock and they don't know if/when they're getting any more Xmas Sad)

Waitrose cranberry mincemeat sold out in my local too! Now THAT I did leave too late!

Redpickle & MirandaWest The Waitrose in Bromley & Bloomsbury Brunswick centre had them in last week. Any good for you?

Thank you raisah but a little far away I'm afraid (am in York :))

I went on a pastry workshop with a French baker and he was adamant that the best mince meat is from Morrison.

After a few year making my own mincemeat, I now prefer Sainsburys TTD one which I add orange zest to.

Not too late to make a cake. Soak dried fruit now, leave for a few days then make cake. Marzipan and ice on Christmas Eve.
