Where are all the carol singers?

It just occurred to me the other day that it's been years since I've had any carol singers round. Does no one do this anymore? When I was young me and a friend used to make a good bit of pocket money by going carol singing.

We are visited by the local church once over the festive period. Apart from them I don't remember any other carol singers for at least 30 years and even then it used to just be a couple of spotty youths singing badly.

My mum was born in 1937 and she said that there were lots of carol singers when she was growing up. It was common in those days to invite them in give them a glass of sherry and mince pie and then continue the singing around the piano. Different times back then!
