What to buy a 11-12 yo boy for about a tenner?

Want to get something for the childminder's son. He's a really sweet kid with endless patience for playing with my 2yo DD so I'd like to get him a small gift for Christmas, but I have NO IDEA what kids his age like. I think he's 11 but he could have just turned 12. He started secondary school this year, anyway. Any bright ideas, or do I just fall back on a gift card?

Agree with the Ripley's believe it or not, ditto hunger games or something Minecraft related, nearly every boy is into that.
