Any ideas for a present for €5 for a 13yr old boy I've never met?

We've been invited to a Christmas party on Friday night, mostly neighbors but some local friends of a French family living on our street. KK for the kids. We've never been before but sounds very relaxed and funny.

What on earth do I get a 13 yr old boy, am city centre so can grab in shops but my problem is I have no idea what to get that would be liked for the budget .

Help oh wise MNers!!

Top Gear Annual (about £3.50 in Tesco) and a selection box would be my suggestion.

Chocolate and perhaps a shower gel.

Can't go wrong with confectionery I would think. I have 12 & 13 year old boys and their interests are not the same. Neither would thank you for Top gear although some of their friends would. I'd play safe. You might be able to pick up a wallet or something on that budget too.

Nice box of chocs. Can't go wrong with that unless he has a nut allergy.

Thank you for your words of wisdom. I'll get me to boots in search of something (would a chocolate shower gel be too, eh, oh a grown up thinks that's funny [roll eyes]?) and have confectionary as my back up.

Wallet is not a bad idea either, I get both opinions on TG.

Thanks again, and sorry for the late return here, work and then family life intervened, but I have lunch hour tomorrow and Friday to sort something.

My boys have some chocolatey type Lynx I think, though there is one that smells like Coconut which is quite nice too. They however see shower gel as more of a necessity than a treat- they honestly get more excited about a bottle of Matey :)

BHS used to do mini gumball machines and stuff like that - might be worth a look in there.

I don't have a bhs.

I got a cube bot, slightly over budget.

Then got cold feet about thar and got a sheep glitter ball (tacky "Irish" trinket for a French recipient) and a bag of Snowman figures from thorn tons. Within budget.

Put both out for DD and au pair to advise which I should wrap - AP says bot, DD says glitter ball and crocs. Think I,ll go with bot in he end even if slightly over budget (it was €7.50, budget was €5).

Apologies about spellings, iPad keeps changing things on me without me noticing...
