Ham in coke or cherry coke?

My dad, sister & brother are coming on boxing day. The only meat they all eat is pork; I've a small baby so want to do something easy. I settled on Nigella's ham in coke but now I can't choose between normal or cherry coke!!

Wise people who may have tried it both ways, which did you prefer and why? Thankyou! Grin

Both are good but I felt the flavour was slightly better with cherry coke.

Just make sure you use full fat rather than diet. Enjoy...it's one of my favourite meals!

The ham in cherry coke has always gone down very well here.

Thanks! And - where did you find "cherry jam"?!

Both normal Coke and Cherry Coke taste good, Lidl and Aldi do a cheap and really tasty cherry jam. You can get hartleys black cherry jam in asda etc.

I just got the cherry jam with my normal Ocado shop.

Can someone tell me how you do your ham in cherry coke in the slow cooker please. What glaze do you do after? Is it still the mustard/treacle combo or something else?

missmargot · 11/12/2013 18:35

I like Cherry Coke, however to confuse things I also like it cooked in ginger (ginger beer with ginger conserve glaze).

monniemae · 11/12/2013 19:49

Thanks Missmargot. Cherry coke it is (sister hates ginger Confused)
