Having bought gifts for her for 20 odd years I feel like I've bought everything before... Anyone purchased their Mum a great present? Please share it with me!

Kindle Fire

MIL - necklace and scarf

dashoflime · 17/12/2013 19:18

Portmerion Botanic serving bowl and plate.
I saw them in a charity shop and got all excited because I thought the line had been discontinued and I'd found this amazing rare thing.
Turns out John Lewis's still do 'em. Never mind- she'll still like them.

Also this silly book of pictures of dogs underwater.

The first two Elizabeth Chadwick novels. She got engrossed in one of mine when I left her unattended by the bookshelf one Sunday while she was here for lunch.

She's developing dementia and has been hoarding, so don't want to give her too much as we (my sisters and I) are actively decluttering her home at the moment.

M&D are getting joint gifts, mainly.

A calendar of my dd
A board game
A boxed cinema voucher

Then she is getting

A book
A bottle of wine
A box of chocolates

Two illustrated books - one on British songbirds and one on garden birds.

The twelve poems for Christmas card alternative.

Some dark choc truffles and ginger biscuits from the boys.

Got a 4 gift rule

So bought = Pj's, a framed print of me and my sister, hand warmers, and a book on happiness.

Will also do her a stocking with lots of little bits inside.

snowmanshoes · 18/12/2013 07:19

A pandora charm and a cardi that she heavily hinted she liked from good old M and S

MinesAPintOfTea · 18/12/2013 07:46

Some ikea clips and either a big woollen wrap our done smellies. In my defence she's the only person I've not finished Grin

Davros · 18/12/2013 10:04

I got mine a new digital radio that she wants which must have a cassette player! Git it with CD as well, about £40/£50. If I had waited I would rush to M&S today as they've got 30% off knitwear and she loves their cashmere

HavantGuard · 18/12/2013 10:07

Clothes and candles.

wordfactory · 18/12/2013 10:14

Tickets for Swan Lake.
PJs and slippers to keep at our house (so she can keep her luggage lighter).
Oven gloves (I noticed hers were threadbare).
A lavander cushion with her catch phrase on it 'All you need is love.'

DH has bought her the Malala book and a CD of Jaquline Du Pres.

DS has bought her a set of three nail varnishes.
DD has bought her a pocket diary.

NotAnotherStuffedTurkey · 18/12/2013 10:22

A mobile phone cover it's a last ditch attempt to persuade her to keep her phone turned on rather than turned off and wrapped up in two zip lock plastic bags in the inside pocket of her handbag Xmas Grin
