Highlighting Christmas TV guide

Does anyone go through the Christmas TV guide and highlight the programmes you want to watch?
My Nan always did this with the Radio Times.
I've never done so before but think I might start this year. Is this a sign I'm getting old?

I used to as a child.

I've tried to train the children up, but we have Sky, so finding the channels they want in a printed TV guide is rather trying.

I'm afraid it's a dying art. I find myself saying 'do you remember when...' rather a lot these days. Xmas Grin

Yes, it's a tradition and has to be done when the Xmas Radio Times comes out! There's a thread on here asking when the RT is out - read that and you'll see lots of us do it! Grin

Yes! My dh was under strict orders to bring it home today. Looking forward to a naice coffee, twirl and my special christmas a highlighter once we get back from ds1 Christmas concert.

I thought i was the only one!

snozzlemaid · 10/12/2013 17:20

Right you've convinced me to definitely do this. I'm off now to hunt down a highlighter. Smile

I too have just texted hubby to bring me mine in tonight. Muchos excited!

Southeastdweller · 10/12/2013 17:29

Yes I still do it and must remember to buy my copy of the Radio Times this weekend! Going to do similar to what TheHOHOHOnlyPink does and sit with a coffee and snack and do it on Sunday.

SashaOfSiberia · 10/12/2013 17:33

Did this on Saturday afternoon as a break from decorating the tree.

We use different colour highlighters for different people and green for 'family'.

Next week I'll sit down with the Tivo and programme in all the recordings.

Hopefully for Christmas I might get a life Wink

Me and dd 9 have been doing this today.
her colour is orange, mine is green, then ds 1 and 2/ dh will highlight theirs if they can be bothered.
It has to be The Radio Times and is a tradition I started when ds1 and 2 were children. Grin

snozzlemaid · 10/12/2013 17:53

Ooh, different colours - I like it. Dd will be up for this too, don't think dp or ds (16) will though.

I always do it.

MiracleOntheM4 · 10/12/2013 18:14

Oh yes. RT purchased today!

Rosvita · 10/12/2013 21:05

I used to do this as a child with parents Radio Times (although I'd circle with a Biro as could never locate a highlighter!).Now I'm a cheapskate I buy tv choice or similar and prompted by seeing this mentioned on another Xmas thread today have gone out and purchased my tv choice tonight ready to go through!

ShinyBauble · 10/12/2013 21:21

When I was growing up in the 80s/90s, my brothers and I (and our Mum) used to initial next to the things we wanted to record. We taped a hell of a lot, in fact I can remember major fights over the fact that someone had already claimed a certain time slot. (We have hundreds of VHS tapes in the loft!)

Golddigger · 10/12/2013 21:23

Yes. ooh they are out now. I looked last week and was disappointed to find that I was too early.

desperateforaholiday · 10/12/2013 21:25

Ive saved last years as it'll be more or less the same this year Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/12/2013 21:51

Blush I bought the TV Times yesterday and got busy with my girly pink highlighter pen.

All the Eastenders/Corrie/ Emmerdale (though I haven't watched them since August. I'll have no flipping idea what's going on. I watched some Corrie catch-up and I'm thinking "Who's getting married? ")

There's a creepy Mark Gatiss (Tractate Middoth) at 9.30pm (I loved 'Crooked House' )

Might let the DC go through it Xmas Wink
