Had a really shit few years. On the up now. Going to DLP in February half term.....our first holiday in YEARS.

Telling the kids on Christmas Day. Want to get them each a gift which they can open at the same time that will let them figure it out....

Have 3 kids, ages 13, 10 and 7.

Was thinking something like a little Eiffel Tower for 10yo, and a Mickey something for 7yo. 13 yo is clever...wanted to make him think a bit!!

All help very welcome.

Thanks.

Oh I love stuff like this!!! Depending on your budget and child how about creating an image that tells him and having it made in to a puzzle?! Or put a printed out map in to a blown up balloon to be popped on Xmas day?! Hth xxx

How about hiding the letters that spell February around the house / room and getting them to work that out first....? Otherwise they might think they're going straight after Christmas :)

scrabble letters that spell out Disneyland...though your dc would have to work that out. you could put them in a cracker maybe?

Passport covers with Mickey mouse ears in them? Travel wash bags - the little plane compliant ones - in their stockings? Spending money in euros?

Brilliant ideas!
Thanks everyone... Might use all of them! Overkill?! Wink

Get the older child a naice French dictionary as a present wrapped up and put near the front. Say something like 'It'll be handy for school' (cue pseudo-grateful face from child) Then behind all the other presents so it is opened last, wrap a Disney Christmas card addressed to all the children with a short letter inside written in basic french (omitting the words 'Disneyland', perhaps make it slightly cryptic?) inviting them there in Fevrier! That's when the dictionary comes in handy Wink

Oooh. Bloody genius Tracy! I like your style!

Deffo do that. He does French in school. Will have to find someone to do me a letter. My schoolgirl French won't be enough I fear!

wrap some Disney helium Balloons in a big cardboard box with a note with You're going to Disneyland on the Balloon String, give it as a joint present, when they open the box the balloons will float out and they can read the note, also add a few Disney soft toys in there

What a lovely idea op. Someone showed me this little girl getting similar for her birthday recently, could you do something similar?

maybe slightly less stuff. Actually I've just watched it again and it's a bit OTT Grin

I'm also doing a DLP visit as a Christmas present this year, but we are going 2 days later! I've gone for a kind of pass the parcel idea I saw on youtube (just search for Disney surprise trip for ideas)

So to start with they have a huge wrapped up box (disney themed paper of course) with a series of smaller boxes inside each other. In between each 'layer' there are things that hint at the trip and will be useful for it. Its going to be cold so there is new hat, scarf, gloves etc (again disney themed) drink bottles, snacks and activity books for the journey (I-spy on a journey in France). Then the final little box I have filled with a job lot of Disney trading pins I got off ebay and buried underneath is an envelope that contains their tickets.

They have no idea we will be going as I said I couldn't afford to take them back for another 5 years, but I'm bursting with excitement and can't wait to see them open it and work it all out. Xmas Grin
