Always a tricky one, and my dad has a birthday near christmas too. For birthday he is getting a couple of the "Pirates in an adventure with..." books because I know he will enjoy the humour. Also some whisky stones/rocks and maybe a miniature to go with it. For him and his partner for Christmas they are getting a recycled clock with temperature and lunar cycle dials on it from John Lewis. Can be used indoors or outdoors as I know they are planning to work on their garden next year.

A personalised plectrum (arrived this morning) and a holder thing that sort of sits between two strings on the guitar to hold it Smile

Good presents! I might check out the lunar temperature thingy from John Lewis as my dad's a keen gardener.

I have just brought my dad 2 pairs of cord trousers which is very boring and practical. My sister has brought him a subscription to country file which was an idea I gave her and is much better. Should have kept it to myself Wink

lego :) My mums bought him the Helms Deep set so I got him the wizard battle :)

BobCrotchstitch · 05/12/2013 19:11

A bee house for his allotment. It has a lift up kid with a Perspex cover underneath so you can see what's happening inside- I am vastly over invested in it :o

He keeps going on about this amazing cheese he had, but you cannot get it round here (that we know of) so I've ordered some of that (£15 for 400g)Confused and going to get him some nice red wine and crackers. Me and my db went halfies on a karting experience day last year for him but he never went so that money was wasted Angry

I have no idea what to get my DF. He doesn't drink or wear aftershave and hates smelly stuff. He likes books and music but buys all this for himself. He's not into keepsake stuff either.

I usually resort to vouchers but really hate not getting something better. Plus his birthday is NYE.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/12/2013 11:43

Single malt - just like every other year.

Lucy..can I ask about the personalised plectrum? My DH might like one of these…..my dad is getting that Voice CD advertised. App he mentioned it to my mum so I stole the idea.

Chipping in with mum and bro for a bird box with a camera in. Loves gadgets and nature. Perfect! But too dear to buy on my own.

JustMeh · 08/12/2013 08:28

Breaking bad DVD and smellies.

Posh pair of lined leather gloves (bought in the sale last jan!)

Lovely framed print of a cartoon style rugby match day by a local artist.

Few other bits and pieces.... Chamois leather for the car, cashew nuts, bubble bath.

I thought about getting a posh shaving soap bowl and brush but will save that for his birthday.
