So, DH finally asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I sent him a link to something I had been drooling over for months. A bed quilt, as it happens, the most desirable one I have ever seen. I was mildly obsessed with it, if you must know.

He didn't check his email and he didn't get the link and now it is sold out. In desperation I emailed the company today to ask if it might possibly come back before Christmas and they said it is now not only sold out but discontinued. No more. I am not only not going to get it for Christmas but I am never going to get it EVER.

I feel a bit like a petulant five year old but am totally gutted.

If anyone knows where to get a sumptuous hand tufted velvet bed quilt in a gorgeous sludgy green/grey, let me know. Or even a nice alternative. Sigh.

ebay maybe?

lookoveryourshouldernow · 04/12/2013 21:59

...so you need to give us a link to the original bedspread so that we can put on our bestest searching hat and gloves on (and scarf - cos it's cold out there) and see if we can find something to make Christmas just that little bit more bearable and cosy for you Xmas Wink

Try this place or Laura Ashley for nice bedding.

Bed quilts are rubbish. They look pretty but they are too heavy to sleep under.

A nice duvet cover set is much more practical Smile

Can they give you the details of their supplier?

iheartdusty · 04/12/2013 23:51

john lewis any good?

grey not green

So your DH asks you what you want for Christmas and you pick a throw?
To me that is just home furnishings that you both use and share, like cutlery or tea towels.
Why didn't you just get them yourself when they were available?

DreamingAlice · 05/12/2013 11:21

Yakky- um, to each her own, I'd say. Last I checked I was entitled to ask for whatever I want for my Christmas and I wanted that. It felt a bit extravagant to buy it for myself. It is perhaps not the most practical of items but we just moved house, and I wanted something for the bedroom- I felt I would enjoy looking at it when I lie in bed and read.

If someone can help find one or one just like it I will be soooo grateful.

It is this one: www.coxandcox.co.uk/home/bed-bath/quilts/sumptuous-kingsize-quilt

They said they will be replacing it with an alternative in February or March but I don't think it will be the same colour. There was one on eBay over the summer but it got 41 bids and I am not sure if anyone will put one up.

Tried Laura Ashley, John Lewis and Peacock- no joy.

Oh and I quite like the grey one but it's a bit too grey.

It's a beautiful bedspread. This is not much help but - I have a very similar one to the one pictured, except it's rough silk. It was from The White Company a couple of years ago ( my birthday present - yes, people do do that!) It's mushroom with a white/cream underneath. They don't have anything similar currently but it might give you something else to hunt on ebay.
