Christmas films to watch with 3.8yo?

YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka · 04/12/2013 08:46

I'd like to watch some Christmassy films with 3.8yo DD1 in the run up to Christmas. We have Elf, The Snowman, Muppet Christmas Carol, Mickey's Christmas Carol, Home Alone (I think she's old enough, we'll give it a go anyway) and Santa Clause The Movie.

Any other recommendations? They don't have to be great, but I'd prefer of they were not too awful as I have to sit through them too Xmas Grin

Polar Express is good

MarianneEnjolras · 04/12/2013 08:48

Arthur Christmas and Polar Express are my 3 year old's favourites.

Polar Express is the only one my 3 year old will watch all the way through. Watching this thread to see if there are any others that might 'get' him in the same way.

snowman and snowdog. it's a bit rubbish i'm afraid but dd (3.5) loves it.

Arthur Christmas and Olive the other reindeer are favourites here!

Arthur Christmas and the night before the night before Christmas. The latter isn't brilliant but both my kids love it.

mickeys once upon a Christmas and twice upon a Christmas are quite good.

nightmare before Christmas - dd watched this from about 3 and loves it but may be a bit scary

I want to watch miracle on 34th street but she doesn't seem keen but she won't watch polar express either Sad

Father Christmas, it's a short film, about 3mins, it's Raymond Briggs too and my 6 and 3yr olds love it. They so love Home Alone, The Grinch, The Gruffalo/Gruffalos Child, Ice Age Christmas.

The last two years DS has absolutely loved How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The 1966 animated version.

He also loved the Raymond Briggs Father Christmas.

They're not too long so good for a preschooler's attention span. And not too annoying so parents don't mind watching them over and over again.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I need to make a list! Xmas Smile

We've started watching Arthur Christmas as it's on Sky movies. Going to steadily work my way through as many as I can (she watches about 30 mins before bed each night) before Christmas day!

Curious George, A Very Monkey Christmas.

The Mickey Mouse compilations are good too, you can buy all three in a multi disc set for about a fiver.
