Feeling utterly clueless! Not really a doll person and what I've seen so far in shops doesn't really appeal ... Even took a trip to Hamleys but thought it was pretty disappointing. Any advice gratefully received :)

4 1/2 year old daughter has an Haba doll and a couple of Barbie dolls+small Stacey.

She's quite into role playing/changing dolls etc but can't really completely dress/undress the Barbie/Stacey unless an adult plays with her as it's all too tight and fiddly still. She seems to have gone off Haba doll a bit. I have a feeling it's because it's not so realistic. Maybe time for Santa to bring a new doll.

Am looking at Gotz Just Like Me dolls - is that the right age range do you reckon? Can the doll pretty much sit/stand? Would like a doll that has a bit of mileage if possible and won't fall apart with a week of using...

Anyone in London - do you know anywhere that stocks these dolls? I would have quite like to see them before buying? I was thinking of going to Harrods but after the Hamleys debacle I'm not sure it's worth a try.

I have one of these dolls put aside for DD for xmas, she is 2.7yrs, I had got her a Designafriend from Argos mega cheap but that is a large doll and I think DD might struggle with the size of it. I saw the Gotz doll in TK Maxx for £11 and grabbed it as its a lovely size, my DD isn't bothered with changing clothes just now but I think she will need help with that as the doll seems fairly rigid but I've not taken her out the packaging just yet.

For your DD's age I would seriously consider the Designafriend dolls they are really lovely but not too pricey, lots of great outfits. There are lots of beautiful dolls around but I'd rather wait till DD is about 6 to spend £50 on a single doll.

email Cate at bambolina.co.uk she will put you in the right direction. They have a great selection of these and other dolls and wrap them beautifully for posting. I don't work for them btw just a happy past customer.
